- Two friends won a beautiful fish each at a fair, which I condone, but alas they’ve been won, I rescued them within hours of them not knowing to do, a week later and a new home, so they can have a better life small tank I think, but better than a bowl, they will have a stand for the tank soon :)

| Posted: 16 May 2019 04:00 PM PDT About a year ago the restaurant where I work hosted a Persian New Year event. As part of the "decoration", they decided to buy two goldfish. At the end of the night, I asked what they planned to do with them, and they told me that they were going to flush them. Horrified, I decided to bring them home and put them in my, at the time, empty tank. I figured 10 gallons was better than nothing and they were tiny. A few months later, they outgrew the 10-gallon, so I put them in a 20-gallon, a few months after that, they were moved to a 50-gallon pond environment outside where they get fed daily and regular water changes. Here's the thing, they are now outgrowing the 50-gallons. One of them is about 6" long and the other about 4". It's getting very difficult to keep them clean. I cannot afford to keep upgrading their enclosure and at this point, I'm running out of room for them. They've already outgrown my tiny home and are starting to get too big for my balcony too. I think the best option is to rehome them, but I'm not sure where to start. I've posted on Facebook, Craigslist, and Reddit hoping to get some interest, but I'm not expecting much. Does anyone have any advice? I feel like a terrible pet owner because I took responsibility for animals that I didn't want. After my last betta fish died, I decided that I wanted to take a break from the hobby. Getting flushed just seemed like a horrible way to die and I wanted to prevent them from suffering. | Goldfish has cloudy eye and white sore after tank change? [PICTURE ATTACHED] Posted: 16 May 2019 07:08 PM PDT Hello guys, Yesterday I moved my two goldfish from their undersized 10 gallon to a larger (but still slightly under ideal) 30 gallon breeder tank. I tested the water last night to be no more than 0.5 nitrite and 20 nitrate, Ammonia was 0 (with API test strips). pH was also normal (7.4~7.5). This afternoon after returning from work, I noticed my Red Lion Head goldfish had a large white spot developing on his side, along with some cloudiness in his eye on that side too. Some information: -Red Lion Head has previously struggled with swim bladder problems and was acting somewhat lethargic recently. My other fish (black moor) seems to be adapting much more smoothly and doesn't appear to have any major issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] | ||
