I have 3 goldfish and they keep staying near either the bottom or the top of the tank and do nothing all day. The rarely move unless I am feeding them. Is this normal behavior?

How do you induce more head growth in ranchu?

Wen Coming Off? I have this chocolate oranda currently in a 37 gallon with a butterfly telescope. I change their water 50% every day and water parameters are perfect. For the past week or two his wen has slowly been coming off in this one area, exposing his flesh underneath. What should I do?

Oranda's wen changing consistency?

Hello Everyone,

Today I noticed that my Oranda's wen looked a little different than usual. Usually its a semi translucent black and red, but I've noticed that a section of the wen above his right eye has become cloudy and has sort of shrunk a little bit.

I couldn't find any other mentions of this while trying to research the issue, has anyone else had this happen or know what could be causing this? I tried to get pictures but for the most part the effect doesn't show up well on camera.

Thanks in advance for y'alls time.

Wen Troubleshooting

Posted: 17 May 2019 06:06 PM PDT

For the past 3 months I have owned two adult Oranda goldfish, who live in their own 75 gallon. However, I am having difficulty keeping their wens in check.

One month after buying, I had to trim the wen of one of the orandas, as it had grown over both his eyes and gills, and he was having trouble seeing and breathing.

Presently, the wen has once again, grown over both his eyes and gills, and looks identical to when I last trimmed him. The other oranda's wen is also now overgrown, and I will need to trim it soon as well.

They eat a variety of food - the bulk of their diet however is various homemade gel food recipes, supplemented with Northfin Goldfish food, duckweed, and spinach.

I am curious as to whether this is normal or not, and if not, is it what I'm feeding them? Are there any foods that boost wen growth that I should know of, that could be in my gel food? I don't mind trimming the wens every two months, but I can't see being sedated so often as being good for them. Any advice here is much appreciated.
