| Crayfish escaped for a little while before being found and put back into water – will he be okay? Posted: 26 May 2019 03:00 PM PDT Hey everyone! I have a Florida Crayfish named Mr. Mudbug. He's quite a mischievous cray; today was his first escape from my 25g tank. As soon as I noticed he was missing this afternoon, I panicked and searched for him for an entire hour. When I finally found him, he was underneath my bed. By then, he was probably out of the water for an hour or two. I thought it was too late by the time I found him until I saw his leg twitch. I decided to put him back in the water in hopes that he somehow survived his epic trek across my room. He was pretty still in those first five minutes he was back in the water, but once one of my corydoras bumped into him he started to wander around his tank. It seems like he's doing better now; he's alive, walking around here and there, and chilling in a corner next to his hide. It doesn't seem like he's injured either, aside from nearly drying out. I just still can't help but feel worried about him; do you guys think he's okay? Anything I should look out for as he gets readjusted to his home after his great escape? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 26 May 2019 01:08 AM PDT I woke up this morning to find my crayfish not in her tank. I thought I covered all the escape routes but she has out bested me. I have no idea how many hours she has been out of water and while I was searching all over the room I found her crawling along the floor with dust all around her legs and class. In the panic of the moment and actually finding her still alive as I dreaded that I'd lost her, I picked her up, sprinted to the tank and placed her in. She froze for several moments but has now climbed down and under her borrow. What would be advised to do now? I'm very worried that she must be stressed beyond belief, she was so happy and confident before this incident last night. As I ran back to place her in I didn't see any damage to her shell but I also didn't get to look closely. I'm happy that she's still alive and back in the water but what can be done so that I don't lose her now from stress or trauma. To anyone else where your crayfish escaped, what did you do to help them recover? [link] [comments] |
