Moving

Posted: 17 May 2019 05:45 AM PDT

I'm in new Hampshire where axolotls are legal. I may be moving to Massachusetts where (I think) axolotls are legal. I want to bring them with me which would be going over state borders but there is no state between NH and ma. Is anything about this illegal?

This is Smiley Sanchez! I’ve had them since March of last year when they were a baby and think they are finally the right age to figure out the gender! I’ve been calling them a girl but wanted to find out. What do y’all think?

Help!! found axolotl floating upside down. need help

Posted: 16 May 2019 06:20 PM PDT

found my wildtype axolotl floating upside down and extremely bloated this morning.

her arms are also bloated so I don't think its gas.

there is some discharge from her butt.

I have placed her in the fridge.

the other two axolotl tank mates look healthy and are acting fine.

temperature is 17c.

ph 7.4 and not ammonia.

im freaking out because i've never lost and axolotl before (all three of mine are 12+ years old)

Questions about getting started

Posted: 16 May 2019 08:15 PM PDT

Hey y'all, I want to do an axlotl tank but I know temperature control is a huge deal with them. Do you guys all use aquarium chillers? If not, how do you keep your tank cool? I'm also debating on doing one axlotl in a 30gal or a few in a 75, so I'd love opinions on that as well. Thanks!

I recently got two cute axolotls and started fridging them after they couldn't stop floating and had issues pooping. However they've now developed fungi on their gills. I wanted to know if there's any good ways I should treat this

My Dendé will no longer eat fish

Posted: 16 May 2019 12:37 PM PDT

So I've had her since she hatched essentially. When she got big enough I began giving her feeder fish as a treat once or twice a month until a friend of mine who also keeps Axolotls told me about the possibility of her getting sick from eating one of these farm raised gold fish that pet stores offer gave for less than a week. So I started up another tank and starting breeding guppies specifically for food. I've done this for several generations just to be sure there were no issues and obviously this took a few months. I put two guppies in her tank about a week ago and she hasn't even attempted to get one. I suppose she could've lost her appetite for fish but now I have a ton of guppies.

Axolotl throwing up

Posted: 16 May 2019 11:46 AM PDT

I've had Aristotle for about a year now, but he's about two years old and is fully grown. I have had no health issues with him other than this. I feed him live dendrobaena worms and he normally eats them fine, but after his most recent feed he threw up a bunch of half digested worms. Is this something to be concerned about or is it just something that happens sometimes?
