About one year ago, I was innocently browsing r/all and ran across a neat pic of a cool shrimp in an aquarium. Unbeknownst to me at the time, this was about to spark something in me, an obsession that would consume countless hours and countless dollars over the next months.

After that chance shrimp picture, I started reading more and more, subscribing to all the aquarium subs, spending hours on YouTube, joining all sorts of Facebook groups (even though the platform is terrible, that seems to be where everyone is) and reading all the things.

Shrimp aren't the easiest to find locally, so I made do with various fish. A year ago I had no tanks. Today, I have this in my basement. I blame this sub. But I still didn't have shrimp.

Today, I finally found some shrimp. They may be low grade RCS, but I'm happy as can be right now. Here's a few of the li'l guys I bought today.

I've been given the go-ahead to convert a storage room in the basement in to a full blown fishroom, and plans are already being drawn up to make myself a nice shrimp breeding factory in there.

Thanks r/shrimptank for giving me a new and rewarding hobby!

My cherry shrimp are dying! For a little backstory I bought a bowl and some moss and lazily threw some cherry shrimp in there. No suprise that two died. I felt so bad so I did some research and learned better, I bought a 5 gal,a ton of plants,and made a sponge filter. So I had three living in there and everything's as fine for a few weeks. But then today I saw one dead laying on the sand. What did I do wrong!?!

My shrimps are dying occasionally and I'm a little worried.

I had 3 shrimp die on me in the last 2 weeks. There are about 15 shrimps left and 2 nerite snails. All of my shrimps are, cherry/snowball hybrids. They live in a Walstad 5 gallon tank that's heavily planted. I realize the the TDS is high but I want to get a second opinion before zeroing on it.

Water param today:

Nitrate (ppm) - 0<

Nitrite (ppm) - 0

GH (ppm) - 150

Chlorine(ppm) - 0

KH (ppm) - 40

pH - 7.2

Temp - 71.4 F

TDS (ppm / μs/cm) - 129/275

Busy day for shrimping- shrimp order was lackluster

I got my shrimp farm order of 10 cherry shrimp and I'm a little bummed, they only sent 9 and 2 were dead when they arrived. I've heard a lot of super positive reviews and about how they send extras, and now I'm just... disappointed I guess ! Is their refund/replacement policy usually good ?
