Planting tips? Just got this liver wort as a free sample with a lily bulb, according to my research this normally comes attached to wire so my question is what do I with it?

Shrimp uprooting dilemma

Posted: 08 Apr 2019 11:55 PM PDT

I currently have a five gallon tank with pearl weeds growing inside of it. Along with these plants I have 4 red cherry shrimps which have been inside of it for about 5 days. During these five days, the red cherry shrimps are uprooting my pearl weeds like crazy while grazing on them. Is there any way for these shrimps to stop uprooting my plants?

which soil for dirted tank in EU/DE?

Posted: 09 Apr 2019 03:12 AM PDT

Hi everyone,

Getting ready to set up my first aquarium in over 12 years. It will be a 63L with a Nicrew ClassicLED Plus, hopefully low tech, with a sand-capped dirt substrate. I've been doing my homework about which dirt is best, but I'm a bit hesitant to commit to buying a bag here in Germany because the terminology and translations are not 1:1 with English. Is anyone out in Europe or even Germany using dirt in their tank and can recommend a brand/bag? I know I need organic soil, but then there's so many different types... I found a guy on Youtube using some type of pond soil with good results, so maybe I'll give that a try. Any input appreciated.

Nerite snail eggs

Posted: 08 Apr 2019 05:19 PM PDT

So i have an amount of driftwood in my tank, i did a water change on Sunday and decided i would flip it upside down for a slight change in aesthetic. On the underside was a bunch of little white dots. I was worried this was possibly some type of fungal growth but a quick Google search showed that they're nerite snail eggs.

According to Google nerite snails are similar to amano shrimp in that they need brackish water when they're i guess babies so I'll not worried about the tank becoming plagued, but it doesn't look all that nice.

Any effective way to remove these ongoing as more appear other than taking the driftwood out everytime? Maybe some bottom dweller that would like to eat them?
