Roughly 7 months of Growth, been thinking hard about tearing it down and starting again

Ripped out some of the val, added more bacopa, added a c. Lutea and a red tiger lotus. Starting to get a lil algae. Balance is a hair off but it'll clear up, it always does.

What are these black spots on my plants' leaves?

Posted: 28 Apr 2019 01:13 AM PDT

Hi, I have a pretty low tech 5 gallon tank that I am currently cycling. I am using Fluval Stratum (a little low but another pack is coming soon) and I pump in a dose of API CO2 Booster along with Seachem Stability for the cycle. Lights are kept on for 9 hours but filter flow is low as this tank is intended for a future Betta fish. Nor quite sure what these black spots are? https://imgur.com/sw9nV7y

Full tank shot here: https://imgur.com/DFFxbjg Happy to get suggestions and advice on how to improve. Thanks!

Is Gravel Vac’ing Necessary?

Posted: 27 Apr 2019 11:40 PM PDT

I have always gravel vac'd during water changes as well as possible, but now that my plants are starting to grow there is less and less gravel accessible. How important is gravel vac'ing to maintaining good water quality? If I don't vac should I change a higher percentage of the water?

What's the plant sitting on the white stones with the two baby plants floating attached to it?

Hey everyone, I saw several of these at a LFS, but no one was able to identify it for me! Can someone help identify what these little yellow fish are?

What is going on with my tank

Posted: 27 Apr 2019 05:53 PM PDT

I'm new to planted aquariums. I've got a 75 gallon tank with fluorite dark substrate. I keep it about 78 degrees and use a sun sun 304b. I have a marineland 36" LED strip light. I am not ruining CO2 but I hav been dosing with flourish excel every other day. I have a lot of driftwood so it's a sort of black water set up I suppose.

I got everything set up and planted on April 7th. I started trying to cycle my tank using the fish food method. I have been adding a pinch of food every couple days since and haven't gotten any ammonia.

It seems like my plants aren't doing well and I've noticed all these bubbles forming in my tank. Do I need to be using root tabs and/or other ferts even though I have fluorite? Any insight would be appreciated!

Trouble Starting Planted Tank

Posted: 27 Apr 2019 09:03 PM PDT

So I started my first aquarium in November of '18. I had 2 fake plants in it to start. About January I decided to try to go to real plants. The lady at my local aquarium shop said that I shouldn't need to change anything with my substrate as I have a fine gravel base with slightly larger gravel on top. I started with 1 red lily (Nymphaea Stellata I believe). It was a beautiful plant that came. Out of one of her tanks with about 6 leaves on it and 1 leaf on a long stem.

When I got home and put it in my tank, the bulb came off which I thought was the end. My Google search said it should be OK without it. I planted it along with utilizing the fert tabs that were recommended by the store. It was a beautiful addition to my tank. Then about 2 weeks in it starts losing leaves, one by one and over the course of a month or so it's down to 1 original leaf left, but like 5 little sprouts starting. The last leaf let go and I just had the little ones and now those are letting go. I'm down to 2 very small leafs left on the plant.

It's in a 10g tank with an old 15w fluorescent light that is marked "plant & aquarium".

Any ideas what my issue might be? Should I buy a new one and start over? Or will this one maybe pull through?
