Posted: 03 Apr 2019 08:08 PM PDT During a water change I started scrubbing down my tank. When I looked back at my hose, I realized that my one eyed little guy had gotten sucked in. I didn't even think this was possible, as all of my goldfish are quite big and I didn't think they'd fit. Anyways, I frantically removed him and noticed an injury on his stomach. At first I assumed it was from being sucked into the hose but I couldn't find the skin that had been torn off and it doesn't look fresh. There's no blood and I don't understand how a siphon (made of smooth plastic) could cause such damage. He seems to be swimming around the tank fine but I don't understand what it could be from. There are no sharp edges in the aquarium and I have no decorations or substrate in fear of something like this happening. I'm finishing my water change now and will be dosing the aquarium with salt but what else can I do to make sure my little guy heals properly? I'm really nervous he's my little boy. Posted: 03 Apr 2019 05:18 PM PDT hey everybody, so i will upgrade my 2 (2-3 inches) fancy boys to a 40 gallon breeder so they can be more happy, the thing is: i want to build a 12 gallon sump, i already have the 12g tank but i really don't know about how many gph do the pump needs to move. for reference, the total height is 3.8 feet and the hob overflow box is rated at 300 gph. Fantail is now floating upside down at the top of the tank. Posted: 03 Apr 2019 02:53 PM PDT <edit I'm a noob and she's a bit of a rescue, please help> So I posted about my one gold fish a while ago. She's often had swim bladder issues, I always assumed from eating too much or fast, but a diet always sorted it out. A while ago she had it quite badly, after fasting her for 3 days or mostly went away but then 2 large cysts formed either side of her, this was the reason for my last post. Anyway, after some digging around I decided it may have been stress and poor health induced. Since then I have * Completely scrubbed the tank out * Done 30% water changes at least once a week (now more often and with some gravel vacuuming) * Fed her small, presoaked amounts on her own * Bought fresh food (the other stuff was old and from a friend) Today I added some aquarium salt to the water change for the first time The cysts seem to have completely healed but she's now stuck upside-down at the top of the tank. There is nowhere nearby that I can take her and I don't know what I should try order online (which I'm also worried won't arrive in time) Any advice? [link] [comments] | ||

Am I under feeding my goldfish? Posted: 03 Apr 2019 06:00 AM PDT I think I'm under feeding my Goldfish. The common advice I've seen is to not feed to much because "water quality" but my quality is great, I have a lot of live plants and yay! I have 2 goldfish about 6ish months old I think. And I know thus guys can grow very big, and I'm worried I'm not feeding enough because they are eating my snails and the alge wafers in addition to the pellets I give. I tool a look at the wiki and saw about what and how often to feed, but not how to judge how much. My son has taught them to nibble on his finger for him to give food and they seem to do this ALL THE TIME. [link] [comments] |
