I’m so proud of my goldfish

Posted: 31 Mar 2019 11:32 PM PDT

My gold fish I got from a pet store was very sickly. I thought he was going to die. He was very skinny! So skinny I can see through him. Now he's a normal weight and healthy! He swims a lot more too! I'm so proud of him for being a fighter.

Advice please...?

Posted: 31 Mar 2019 06:34 PM PDT

I work at a major retailer which has a pets department. They sell live fish. These fish get minimal care. The vast majority are goldfish.

Every time I walk past the tank wall, it makes me sad. I'd love to buy a few & give them a better life. I've been lurking here for awhile to learn how to take good care of them.

I know I can't save everyone, but I could save a few...I want them to be happy tho, not just surviving.

I tried to rescue some Bettas...dismal fail. 💔

I was told goldfish are easier. Is the retail tank just too stressful to buy from...? does my fish rescue idea have any hope...?

Aquarium plants and parasites?

Posted: 31 Mar 2019 05:42 AM PDT

Before I move any fish into my new aquarium, I bought plants for it a couple of weeks ago. I'm worried they could be carrying something (no evidence to suggest so), but I'm paranoid about it before I add any fish. Any way to treat the plants beforehand to make sure anything that could be there is killed?
