- So my blue crayfish has eggs under her tail.. I’m not sure if she’s pregnant. She was stored with a young white crayfish. I doubt she’s pregnant from him. But I have a blue male crayfish separate from both. Should i put the blue male and female together So he can fertilize the eggs?
Not sure what's happening with our Australian Red Claw's claw Posted: 01 Apr 2019 04:30 PM PDT Hi, maybe you guys can help us figure out what's going on with our Red Claw. We've searched everywhere online but could not find anything. We've had this Red Claw for about a year. It's in a 40 gallon tank, the temperature is always around 74-76 degrees F, and there are calcium rocks scattered around. Old water is always replaced with clean water at least once a week. We have another Red Claw, a few other regular crayfish as well, and 2 feeder goldfish that somehow survived. Now, here is the Red Claw we're concerned about: https://imgur.com/a/LhyHfgh First photo: This past weekend we noticed that this Red Claw's claw was very discolored and it looked like it shriveled. When this guy first molted, his 2 claws somehow got ripped off when he was vulnerable (we didn't see it happen), so when he molted a second time, his claws were really tiny, so his claws weren't big to begin with. It also lost most of its legs on one side so it was left with only the claw and one leg. We ended up removing the "dead" parts of the claw (the discolored parts) because we were worried it would hinder it from doing its normal thing. Since then, it hasn't been eating or moving around as much. Second photo: Unfortunately, this morning, the other side was showing the same issues: discoloration and some of its legs fell off. But now we notice the claw looks like it's gonna fall apart. Now it just sits in one spot of the tank and is unresponsive. Its definitely still alive but it's just not active anymore. We're worried this might be it for the little guy... All the other crayfish are completely fine and doing their normal thing. Has anyone seen or heard of this problem? Thanks in advance.
