Betta Fish Aquariums - “—the heck you want?!”

“—the heck you want?!”

I just received my first male betta (a ‘star multicolor half moon’ according to the breeder) from Thailand. He arrived in great condition after 6 1/2 days in transit. I couldn’t be happier! :)

New 5.5 Gallon betta tank!! all it needs is some plants.

New to the subreddit, this was my betta named Rowdy and I got him when I first started college. Sadly, he passed away just weeks before I’m set to graduate. He was always a little too enthusiastic to eat and never learned to just slow down. He was more than just a fish and I’ll never forget him.

My co-workers got me a Betta and I'm furious.

Title is a little misleading I guess. I've been cycling a 10 gallon tank on my desk at work for the last 2 weeks. Ammonia levels are at 4ppm still and the tank is not close to ready. I have explained cycling the tank to my coworkers over and over again Everytime they ask me when I'm adding fish. Well, I was off Monday and someone decided to buy a Betta and drop him in. They didn't even adjust the thermostat that I had set to 90° to grow bacteria. I had always planned to add a Betta, but I wanted to make sure the tank was safe and that everything was ready. I'm also a little mad that they decided on my Betta for me and that I wasn't allowed to choose for myself! I feel childish for being upset about that fact but it's true. I don't even have food for the fish yet. Sorry for the rant. I'm just upset that despite all my explanations for why I was waiting to add fish, my coworkers jumped the gun without my consent.

Saved this guy from Petco today. When I came to check out the betas he was on the lid of his cup. Turned around for a second to try to get a workers attention but when I turned back he almost in between the shelf cracks. Put him back in and bought him instantly. Reddit, meet Macho Man Randy Safish.

Upgraded my mom’s betta from a 1.5 gallon “bowl” to a 3 gallon tank! Marimo balls & a filter coming soon, the one that came with it was TOO STRONG and couldn’t be modified...thanks to this community I have learned so much about caring for bettas! I can’t wait to see his transformation!

Got this little angerdart the other day, I’ve not named him yet because I see fury in his eyes and I’m a little scared.

Koi female, waited for her and her sisters for 2 weeks from Vietnam. This one's feisty and flaring in the first 6 hrs at home.
