Axolotl - Aquariums - For months my axolotl has had an open mouth. He is still eating regularly but what could be causing this? It's cute, but worrying.

“Help with a very sickly axolotl” Update!

Posted: 15 Apr 2019 04:05 PM PDT

So I got Lucoa about a week and a half ago so I felt it was time for that update some of you asked for. I started giving her methylene blue + furan 2 baths once a day for 15minutes a day one week ago to treat her fungal infection and she's mostly healed up! She's been getting one night crawler a day (besides three days where she was constipated and wouldn't eat but that went back to normal with a little waiting) and I can tell her gills are starting to grow back and she's a more vibrant shade of black with gold flecks now. She's a lot more active than when I first got her and I just put her in the big tank with her tank mate today because I think her fungal infection is gone. So she's doing a lot better now! Here's a couple pics of her now, her water looks dark in one pic cuz she was in a tea bath I was cycling out until today

I've had my axolotl (Toothless) for 5 years now, i love her and i want the best for her, i live in Ontario Canada and ideally I'd rather not send her back to the fish store...

Does anyone have any suggestions?? I have until August 2019.

So I’m looking into getting an axolotl and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for food, tanks, decorations, or anything else I’ll need to raise one!!

Introducing axolotls

Posted: 15 Apr 2019 10:57 AM PDT

Over the past few months I've been gathering supplies to set up my 40 gallon breeder and finally put my axolotls together into one tank. They're opposite genders and I do not want them to breed. I'm aware they shouldn't be together in one open area in case of overbreeding. My plan was to make a divider for the tank to separate my male and female. I was just wondering if this would still put my female in danger even though the two would be separated.
