Mystery snail help

Posted: 24 Apr 2019 03:09 PM PDT

I have a golden mystery snail who was very active in his 5-gallon betta tank, moving around doing snail things. however, since I've moved him and his betta friend to a 5.5 he has remained in his shell for the last 4 days only coming out for a few minutes to nibble on algae wafer I give him, going back into his shell. How do I make him move around like he used to?

Live Algae Supplementation

I have Japanese trapdoor snails that seem to only eat live algae. They will not touch algae wafers. I started with six and lost two because I can't seem to grow enough algae in my 20 gallon long. If I keep the lights on long enough to get the tank nice and algae filled, my plants tend to die back and remain small, which isn't my goal because I want a jungle val jungle and enough cover for my guppy fry. I'm wondering if I can feed something like Repashy Super Green to my trapdoor snails or if they would reject that too.

My apple snail has damage to her shell. Need advice.

My snail, Allen, must have crawled out of the tank looking to lay eggs last night. I'm kicking myself for not dropping the water level sooner or ordering a cover. I'm ashamed. I found Allen on the floor this morning pretty dry and trying to move. Somehow she was still alive. I looked for damage and put her back in the tank in a net so she could have privacy and not get picked at. The front of her shell is jagged and sharp, but not deeply splintered. The rest of her shell is thankfully intact. Could I possibly file the front of her shell to smooth it out? I feel like the vibrations would really irritate her. Will the sharpness of the shell cut her up if she tries to come out? I'm sick to my stomach and can't stop crying. That snail is my baby...
