What's up with my shrimps? Shrimps sitting on Filter beneath surface.

Posted: 10 Mar 2019 03:22 AM PDT

Hey guys A few weeks ago I got 2 x 60 litres aquariums, put in everything cycled it and put some shrimps in it. All are neocaridina davidi, just different colours. Friday I got 30 shrimps for the second aquarium (A2) , since it was cycled and still empty. After putting them in, they wildly performed their mating swim, explored the area and ate. The next day I find almost everyone of them on top of the filter right beneath the water surface. The same goes with my first shrimp tank(A1) . I didn't do anything there, no new inhabitants etc and they also now sit on the filter beneath the surface. They seem a little slow but if looks carefully I can see them eating and stuff. When my finger comes near or touches them they're gone instantly. It just worries me as they both were very actively searching for food and now they're just sitting almost doing nothing. I'm very worried since I really like my shrimps. Is this normal? If not what can I do? Water changes? More bacteria?

I'd appreciate any help! Thabks in advance!

Edit: I just checked in on the first aquarium, (A1), and the shrimps seem to be more active and almost normal though still appearing to be lethargic. In A2 not much has changed.

I Need Help with Algae

Posted: 09 Mar 2019 09:45 PM PST

I put Cherry Shrimp in my tank yesterday and there was a little bit of blue green algae in the tank but I didn't think much of it, now there is considerably more and I do not know what to do, the shrimp seem to eat it, but not faster than it is growing, how can I get rid of it without harming the shrimp??

also one shrimp has died but I assume it was unrelated to the algae

Out of curiosisty, do any of y'all breed anything else with your shrimp colony without drastically decreasing your shrimp production? Also how many of you have successfully kept neocardinidas with caridinas? Thanks for your time!
