I love how active the tank is during a water change and a few pellets into the feeding dish.

Question - If you put different species of shrimp in a tank and they breed, would they produce weird / ugly babies with mismatched colors?

Just acclimated some new shrimp. Do they tend to hide for the first few days?

What are some good beginner shrimp besides cherries?

I'm looking at getting a colony going, but I only want one tank (space issues). Preferably if it could be kept at 21°C (70°F).

Didn’t see my berries blue for a couple of days. Was starting to worry, when suddenly this guy appeared.

Help! Slowly Losing my Shrimp!

Posted: 23 Mar 2019 11:18 AM PDT

My planted Crystal Red Tank is about a year old, It started off thriving but over the past few months I've been struggling. I've had over 40 baby shrimp disappear over a week and now my adult shrimp are starting to pass away. I lost two of my best and oldest shrimp who were berried the last 2 days. I don't know what to do to get it under control.

I tried feeding more, sealed up my filter to make sure no babies were getting through, doing more water changes and doing less water changes. I even let it get overgrown and stopped fertilizing. I'm kept losing baby shrimp. Now that I've lost two berried adult shrimp, I'm at a complete loss and about to give up on my colony. Anybody have an idea as to what I'm doing wrong?

Parameters:

TDS: 126
GH: 8
KH: 0-1
Temp: 73 F
pH: 6.2-6.4
Ammonia: 0
Nitrate: <2.5 ppm
Nitrite: 0

I feed bacter AE and occasional shrimp pellets. I also used RO water with salty shrimp GH+ and use fluval shrimp stratum for substrate.

Looking for advice on transitioning amano shrimp larvae to saltwater.

Posted: 23 Mar 2019 12:51 PM PDT

Just had our first batch of amano shrimp hatch!!!

Does anyone have experience with breeding them? I could use some advice on transitioning them from the freshwater they're currently in to the saltwater they mature in.

I'm concerned about not shocking them, and keeping the salinity as close to perfect as possible. Currently have plenty of algae and phytoplankton in a fully cycled container for them to feast on so not worried about that bit. Just need to get them in there without killing everyone.
