duckweed? yay or nay

i want a floater my 3 fancy goldie's can munch on and deskinning peas is super time consuming. i have a black moor who's still a baby therefore needs small pieces of food. since goldfish are gluttonous i'm considering adding duckweed to their tank but i know it's like herpes. opinions? only thing i'm worried about is it clogging my filter intake

Outdoor care

Newbie here, I have a garden that I would love to put a small circular formal pond in. It is shaded all day by a Liquid Amber/Sweet Gum (deciduous) and is full of English Ivy underneath. I am in the sub tropics and it often gets as high as 38c here though obviously cooler under the tree. I would prefer not to have a pump and filter system if possible, I do have a rainwater collection tank nearby that I water other plants with weekly that I could use to aerate and partially water change frequently, water temperature would be similar. I would like to use something simple like a big 50-75 litre plastic garden pot. Would this be viable?

Thankyou for any help on water volumes per fish, number of fish for welfare, stepped levels or aquatic plant recommendations.

Advice on substrate!

Posted: 23 Mar 2019 09:15 AM PDT

Hello! I have a comet Goldfish (named Ben Shapiro) that is currently in a 29 gallon with some black sand I had laying around the house. I'm getting him a new 40 gallon some time next month and I was wondering if y'all had any opinions for what substrate I should use. I would prefer something relatively cheap lol. My current options/thoughts are

Chunky gravel (Ik that gravel can get stuck in their mouths so I won't use anything smaller than like pea-sized)

Sand (probably just go get another bag of the same black sand I'm currently using, which is from Petsmart and $20 a bag)

Bare bottom (I'm just worried this will look dirty or boring, plus I would like to have plants)

Any thoughts and opinions are welcome!!

Is it illegal to kill a goldfish? If so, how much could you be charged or how long in prison?
