- Can confirm
- [FTS] 5 years old and still going strong!
- First time posting tank
- Finally got around to taking some nice pics!
- My fluval 13.5
- One of my favorite tanks at my LFS
- Checkerboard wrasse (Halichoeres Hortulanus) aka Bruce.
- Final tweak of the lights taking PAR readings before going to full stocking mode.
- Kids...one of my favorite things in this hobby
- She's alive. explanation in comments.
- How is my setup looking?
- [FTS] 57 gallon mixed reef, 101 days old. After 12 years out, I’m finally getting back into the hobby.
- UPDATE Temperature is now at 23/24 C salinity 1.025 nitrate and ‘ite are 0ppm ammonia 0ppm pH is 8.0-8.2 There is a bag of activated charcoal in the refugium. Everything is looking a lot better today, the SRBTA is concerning me because of how thin it is, but the little baby acid wash BTA is happy.
- ID? Seems like a snail of some kind. Bonus pupper.
- Keep Purple Up Cool?
- Just bought a Kessil A80 for my standard 10g tank. Does it matter which way I mount it with the gooseneck? It really only fits long ways with the gooseneck, will that kill my light distribution?
- Does anyone know of a purigen type of media that would fit inside the bottom section of this media basket? The space is 2” x 2”.
- Iron Levels
- I’m finally going to do it. Where to start?
- Setting up a 20 gallon saltwater and planning on keeping corals. Do I need a protein skimmer? As would be difficult to potentially fit it in internal sump
- (FTS) Seven month old AJ-40b.
- Created a top three video on soft corals for beginners!
- Blenny & Karl Feeding Time
- Too late for my Bubbletip?
Weekly quick asks thread - March 29, 2019 Posted: 29 Mar 2019 06:14 AM PDT Here is the place to post questions about pest ID, coral/fish ID, your cycle, or any other questions that generally wouldn't start up a conversation. If you have an interesting or unique question please create a new thread so everyone can discuss it in length! These are some great resources for ID's of pests/algae. [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Mar 2019 08:13 PM PDT My LFS suggested that I use Purple up to help establish my coralline algae. They also suggested I store the Purple up in the fridge. 1. Any experience with Purple up? 2. Does it need to stay in the fridge? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Mar 2019 07:59 PM PDT I can only really mount it on the side of the tank and have it going laterally across the tank. [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Mar 2019 07:07 PM PDT I dose Iron via the Red Sea Colors program, and they suggest an iron level of 0.15 ppm as ideal. However, my ICP testing company recommend 0.002 ppm. That's a big difference (almost 2 orders of magnitude). Does anyone know of other resources for discussing iron levels in a reef tank? Or any experience with iron in theirs? [link] [comments]
I’m finally going to do it. Where to start? Posted: 29 Mar 2019 02:30 PM PDT Back in high school I was obsessed with the hobby. My bedroom at my parents house was completely filled with tanks. Since then I've fallen out of the hobby and I've been wanting to get back into it for years. In a few months I'll be moving to a place with enough space to keep a moderately sized tank and I've decided to go for it. My question is what tank should I get? I reckon the largest size that I can handle is going to be around 30 gallons. Should I get one of those all-in-one tanks? Or should I just stick to a basic tank? [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Mar 2019 04:29 PM PDT Okay, let's get the basics out of the way: 18 Gallon Nano reef Specific gravity- approx 1.025 Temp 77 degrees ph 8.2 Alkalinity- 10 Ammonia- 0 (Just tested) Nitrate-0 Nitrate- 7 ppm Calcium 385 ppm Magnesium- untested Iodine- .07 ppm Strontium- 10 ppm So two weeks ago I put a clownfish and a Green Bubble Tip Anemone into my tank. Other occupants are cleanup crew (hermits and the like), a tiger pistol shrimp paired with a Wheeler's Goby, a bicolor blenny, a pompom crab, and a scarlett cleaner shrimp. Everything was going great until two days ago, when the Bubbletip decided it really wanted to move over near the Xenia and Tree coral. It's been there for two days and been very upset, so when I got home from work a few hours ago I decided to move him (he was unopen, and looked a bit hurt). So, I gently picked him up, and he wasn't even attached to anything! Well, barely he was- his foot had somehow gotten lacerated, and already he's looking almost bleached. That's a picture of him now. It seems like half of his foot is already detached, and he's just been laying in the sand for a solid three hours now. I ran an ammonia test just to see if it was already spiking, but it came back 0. I need to leave the house for a few hours, but I'm just looking for advice for next steps. I don't have access to a quarantine tank sadly or I'd just put him in there. Has anyone had something like this happen? What are good signs/steps I should take to try and help the little guy? I'm fine just pulling him now to save the tank if I have to, but I at least want to give it a shot. I know they can recover, but I also know a dead anemone can absolutely wreck established tanks. Advice? Update: Did a second ammonia test two hours after this post, came back with about .3 ppm ammonia. So I picked up the anemone, and it all but disinteegrated instantly. Did a big water change, ammonia back to zero. Guess I'll have to just count that one as a loss. [link] [comments] |
