I came into the fish store looking for java ferns. I left with this. What is this plant that makes my rock look like a cheerleader?

FTS. Needs a trim, but whenever I do I end up regretting it, so just gonna let it do its thing.

Going through some hard family/life stuff, have no fucks left for my tanks. How to keep them from going to shit for the next few months?

Posted: 30 Mar 2019 08:59 PM PDT

My dad is in the ICU, so I'm flying back and forth and constantly on the phone with my mom on top of finishing my first year back in school and keeping my shit together.

Tanks are getting weekly-ish water changes and fish are getting fed every other day, but that's about it. Just had a huge chunk of my HC Cuba carpet uproot and gave up replanting it. I'm worried I'll end up exposing all my Amazonia mush and the cories will stir up a mess. The royals got a huge lop a couple weeks ago just so it would stop blocking the light.

Any suggestions for keeping them together? Pics of my tanks in my history. I wish I knew other hobbyists who I could loan my tanks to, but I don't even have a planted tank store nearby.

Questions about plant and fish compatibility?

Posted: 31 Mar 2019 12:43 AM PDT

So I'm curious, I'm planning on setting up a 10 gallon freshwater tank with guppies and platies with some African dwarf frogs, cherry shrimp, and snails.

I'd like to do a planted tank and be a good fish owner. From what I've read, freshwater plants are just fine with freshwater fish as one would assume. But have any of you out there had a plant that just threw your tank off or anything like that?

I've really loved the looks of purple waffle bog plants, java fern, Anubias nana, westeria, moss balls, and several carpet plants (not that I would plant all of them in just a 10 gallon). Do you think there'd be any issues with these?

Thank you all so much! I'm so excited to get into the hobby after admiring it for years!
