First time apple snail breeder Posted: 28 Mar 2019 07:23 PM PDT Hi. So, I bought some mystery/apple snails from pet smart and one of them laid eggs. I decided I wanted to let them hatch so I followed some breeding tutorials on the YouTubes and put them in a little plastic tuperware with some paper towels. Is there any way for me to know if I'm doing this right or not? I.E. how do I know that I'm not damaging the eggs or have already damaged the eggs and killed them. I damaged some of them already, I know that, but like most of them I'm pretty sure are in tact. Any tips/advice? Also, side question...how do I feed them cuttlebone when it floats??? Trying to figure out if my snails were mating or not Posted: 28 Mar 2019 09:17 AM PDT The bigger one was on the smaller one's shell (he and her respectively to make it easier, not sure on their sex), I've seen them like this a few times over the past few days, but today she climbed all the way to the water's surface, grazing on the side of the tank, until he moved forward a bit more over where her lady bits would be, and she kind of stopped moving for a second, her face kind of thrusted in and out of her shell a few times, then she let go and they fell back down onto the bottom of the tank. Now I don't even really know if they are a male/female pair but that definitely looked like some sort of mating type behavior. Right now he's still on her and she's climbing up s bit of wood in the tank. [link] [comments] |
