Posted: 15 Jan 2019 10:55 AM PST Ok so after my friend showed me their Axolotl I became obsessed and I just want to have a few things clarified so I don't hurt it or stress it. I'm going to be using a filter that my friend recommended so that's covered. But should I go with or without sand. I saw some places say it's fine some say use fine sand and it'll be fine but it becomes much harder to maintain, do you all think it's worth it? Next besides the filter how should I go about cleaning the tank I saw I should cycle out water at 20% weekly what exactly does this mean. Also before I even introduce the lil dude how long should I just let the water settle in the tank. Also what kinds of plant life do you recommend for putting into the tank or good hides for him? I think that's everything I can think of if someone could answer just some questions or even add something I should know I would be grateful. [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Jan 2019 05:52 AM PST I'm looking into getting an axolotl. I already have a 29 gallon tank. It's the same footprint as a 20 long but about six inches taller. If I get an axolotl, would I need to lower the water level some? If so, how many inches of water should my axolotl have? [link] [comments]

Suggestions for bottom of tank Posted: 14 Jan 2019 06:46 PM PST I just got a couple axolotls and have read that sand is a good substrate for the bottom, however I was sold a bag of riverbed sand that made the water incredibly murky and won't settle or clean up with the filter. What kind of sand should I put in there? [link] [comments] |
