My ~13 gallon bowl tank is now over a year old. I love the wild look of it.

Pro-tip: Never add Riccia Fluitans to a high-tech tank unless you are 100% sure you know what you are doing!

I think this post (if it survives moderation) in the long run will be of a great help to anyone doing research before adding this devil plant to their high-tech or even low-tech set-ups.

Before deciding on adding this plant myself (aftercall it looks cool on the pictures) I did some research on it and found few posts and youtube videos where authors were iffy about it, but they never revealed why. I recall watching Green Aqua on youtube where they were laughing about Riccia but never actually mentioned what causes it to be a nuisance. I found few posts saying that it stays afloat and can be removed, if no longer wanted, etc. Boy I was wrong!

This thing is worse than duckweed in a high-tech heavily planted tank! Not only it floats, but it actually sinks and roots as well in the carpet. It only looks good "like on the internet pictures" the first 3 or so month. After that time it becomes an uncontrollable mess! You will be finding darker (uglier and "dirty-ish") color strings everywhere in your lush green carpet if you have one and whenever you try to remove it, you will be actually multiplying it exponentially!

Stay away from Riccia Fluitans (not so fluitans really) unless you are 100% sure you know what you are doing! It will be impossible to get rid of once it is in the system and it does look ugly once it starts rooting.

I wish I've read something like this before making a decision to add it to my tank 9 months ago.

I was perusing some planted tank websites, and I saw this one. I really like the look of the stones coming out at an angle and almost converging to make a valley. How is this done?
