My son pictured is living with Leukemia and is not always the most energetic and I really feel Raven senses this because he always "plays" when my son spends time at the tankside

Methinks Perseus may be a Persephone. What do you think? About 9-10 months old.

Plants and axolotls

Posted: 19 Oct 2021 07:05 AM PDT

So I'm still pretty new at tank care and stuff, and I wanna try to get some live plants for the axolotl tank I'm planning. Every place I look gives me different information so I figured I'd ask here.

What are some good plants to keep with axolotls? I know axolotls eat rocks if they're small enough, but will axolotls eat the sand and substrate? Does it make them sick? Will axolotls uproot or sit on the plants I plant? Will they try to eat the roots of floating plants like frogbit or devil's ivy?

Thanks for your help!

You Axolotl Questions

Is my baby axie’s gut okay? I’m worried he ate too large of a bloodworm.

Since I was doing a big tank clean, I was finally able to get a good picture of my two babies! This is Boba (GFP melanoid type) and Puddin (Lucy type)!!

Cycling axolotyl-less tank

Posted: 18 Oct 2021 09:46 PM PDT

Hello folks. I'm waiting until our tank is cycled before adding an axolotyl to our family. Just using food bits and bio starter. I'm a bit new to this though and would love some feedback.

This is the testing results on day 14

Does this look like it's progressing as it should? I'm doing 25% water changes every few days, but I wonder is that necessary with an axolotyl-less tank? Any tips appreciated and when will it be safe to add one.

Would you call this a HI copper?

I know you can’t guarantee gender until a certain age (LPS couldn’t give me approx age either) but I’m wondering if the melanoid is looking male so far? His abdomen doesn’t seem to bubble out like the leucys does. Opinions? (Again I know there’s no way to know 100% right now)
