| Posted: 25 Jun 2021 03:35 AM PDT So uhh I was thinking of buying a pet axolotl so I thought what better place was to get a guide than reddit! So here the questions I wanted to ask 1. Can I keep 2 baby axolotls together? 2. what all do axolotls require to eat 3. How much gallons tank would I require for 2 baby axos to properly grow 4. Can the two baby axolotls, after turning adults breed in the same place they grew in, like the tank.. or any other condition must be met 5. I heard adult axolotls can eat baby axolotls.. so would they eat their own children...? 6. How much do axolotls cost and what are their variants 7. Can I touch and pet the axolotls? Would they recognize me? I dont remember if I had any more questions so will ask them if I do remember them I would be highly obliged if you can spend a little bit of your precious time helping me Thank you! Also I would very much like some tips or any other extra guide you wanna give me! [link] [comments] | ||

| how to convince my mum to let me care for my lotl Posted: 25 Jun 2021 09:32 AM PDT hi, a couple years back I got an axolotl, his name is comet. I got him when he was quite small and my mother helped me "care" for him. I was barely 11 and all I knew about lotls was "cute frog dragon me want" and after YEARS of begging I finally saved up my own money from chores to buy an axolotl and a temporary 15 gallon tank. but the second mum and I got home she went overboard with insisting on doing it her way, I didn't want substrate, she wanted gravel, I wanted to cycle the tank THEN get a lotl but no according to her they weren't the same as my other fish so she made me wait to get the tank and lotl at the same time four years later, comet is still in that 'temporary tank' because my mother won't let me get a bigger one, she says he's "doing fine" and he'll "grow to the size of his tank" she INSISTS I keep her tacky looking gravel which he has already eaten in the past, she watches me and makes sure I only feed him cheap bloodworms, and she always takes the whole filter and gets rid of all the filter media while I'm at school. I'm sick of it, some days I regret buying comet, but then I think about how much joy he brings me. I don't know what to do, so I'm coming to Reddit. Please, can someone help me convince my mum to let me take care of him? I don't know why she won't let me, I pretty much take care of all the tanks in our house no problem is it too late to help him? there's an axolotl rescue opening nearby early July, should I just...surrender him? I've thought about it but I love him so much- I couldn't bear to just dump him like that but I can't stand watching him suffer [link] [comments] | ||
| Washington heat - How to care for my little girl Posted: 25 Jun 2021 09:15 AM PDT Hello, I'm a new axolotl'er. I've got a female about 6-7". She's in a 20 gallon, long tank. In Washington we're gearing up for incredibly high heat this coming week. I'm worried for my girl as I've only got one AC unit and it's taxed to the max. I've got some water bottles in the freezer ready to drop into her tank as emergency cooling measures, but I'm concerned about her wellbeing. What else can I do to keep her cool? I'd seen some mention of sick 'lotls being put in the fridge but I'm not sure if this is something that might be appropriate for the situation. What are the thoughts of the group here? Thanks, Brian [link] [comments] | ||
| How to cool a 55 gallon aquarium for axolotls? Posted: 24 Jun 2021 09:01 PM PDT So I have everything for my axolotl tank... but not sure how to cool it. I have a 55 gallon but dont wanna blow money on a chiller, and loud aquarium fans. Is there any other way? [link] [comments] |
