Help! Norman's gills look like they're falling apart! This only started happening in the last two days. I did a water change 3 days ago and another one just this morning.

Current tubbing set up while we cycle Avery is doing well, although I worry that doing 100% water changes is stressing him/her out, any tips on how to keep the process as stressfree as possible?

Interest in getting an axolotl

Posted: 12 Jun 2021 09:50 AM PDT

Hello! For a long time I have been in love with these adorable amphibians. I would love to have one one day, but it seems like caring for them requires a level of care and precision that I'm not sure if I would be able to provide. I've never had any aquatic pets before, so the idea of being responsible for something as sensitive to light, temperature, substrate, etc. seems a bit overwhelming to me.

Do the people here have any advice or tips for me if I want get an axolotl eventually?

One thing that I thought about is to get a fish that requires similar conditions but is more resilient and easy to care for to "practice" with and test my skills. Is this a good idea? If so, what would be a good option?

Sorry if I sound ignorant about this sort of thing, I'm just wanting to be sure that I can properly care for the little dude before even think about buying him or her.

Thanks! ≽(ᓐ ᗨ ᓒ)≼
