- Just wanted to share my fish with you
- I was told to cross-post this here. Who am I to go against the demands of an internet stranger?
- Father's day brunch included these beauties. Including two massive guys. I don't thing you can see them but there were also about 5 small turtles swimming amongst them. Just lovely.
- What's the best way to clean a used plastic pond and pond filter before putting your fish into the new system?
- Was thinking about purchasing this guy but don’t have much experience with Shiro Utsuri. Will the black/white deepen with time?
- Been dealing with ulcers for the last month on my koi, have tried higher salt/temp, Melafix and just just the last two days microbe-lift broad spectrum disease treatment. This is the first koi we lost, can anyone please help?
- Water quality issues but the koi are acting fine?

Posted: 22 Jun 2021 05:23 AM PDT Got a used plastic stock tank. Pressure washed it, it holds water. Also got a filter. The media was really nasty so I tossed it. I'm going to put like half of existing filter's media in the "new" filter to help speed up getting the good bacteria rolling. [link] [comments] | ||

Water quality issues but the koi are acting fine? Posted: 21 Jun 2021 09:28 AM PDT My husband and I have a smallish (750 gallon) pond with 6 young koi, a few guppies, and seasonal tadpoles (we are planning a massive expansion in the near future)- we were checking the water quality and there was a HUGE ammonia spike ( about 4 ppm) so we added ammonia remover, waited about 30 minutes and tested again- 0 ppm. we then tested Nitrites/Nitrates 0 ppm Nitrates, but .25ppm for the Nitrites. We added some more water conditioner and stress coat, waited an hour and tested again- similar readings. then last night and into this morning the Nitrites soared to almost 2 ppm and the Nitrates were about 20 ppm with ammonia at .5 ppm as of the last reading. My husband started a drip water change (adding water conditioner and ammonia remover) but the levels don't seem to be changing. The fish are acting fine, begging to be fed, active, not hiding, no lesions, not gasping etc. I'm of the mind to stop the new water and add more bacteria to try and get Nitrogen cycle going again because it looks like it crashed, and we have no idea why. thank you! cross posted [link] [comments] |
