| Anyway to make small Koi not afraid of you? Posted: 03 Jun 2021 03:21 PM PDT Ive had my 2 Koi in a new pond since mid april and I see them almost never. I do live in NW Montana and it just warmed up so id hope to see more activity but not much. Also im extremely impressed how they can hide in the smallest of places. I thought they were dead until i saw them this morning for a second. Now that the temp has warmed up i have been putting out some fish flakes 🤷♂️. No action yet. When i did see them they look really healthy. (I have a deck i can spie on them from) Any advice would be great ty [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 03 Jun 2021 02:49 PM PDT I have heard of the benefits of adding salt to koi ponds, but never added any to mine. Fish have always seemed healthy and vibrant. We now have cut down a tree and the pond gets morning sun only but has yielded some string algae this season which is new. Have only one large water lily that is growing in and will hopefully provide more shade. Pond is roughly 1200 gal and 6 ft at deep end 3ft in shallow end. I assume the water will get warmer this summer due to more sun, not sure if that will increase harmful bacteria/parasites etc. have UV filter too, but would like to be proactive rather than reactive. Let me know your thoughts on adding salt. [link] [comments] | ||
