Keep bubbler running constantly? It’s a 20 gal with one fancy. Am I supposed to turn off or leave it running?

Petri, my new fish in a new setup. In the back is one of the tank mates, ghost shrimp.

Why is my ranchus right eye cloudy??

I don't get algae in my tank.. is that good?

Posted: 13 Mar 2021 10:06 PM PST

I know algae isn't necessarily a good thing to have a lot of in an aquarium but the fact that I don't really get any at all confuses me. Is my tank too clean?

Trying to Keep Plants with Goldfish

Serious help and advice needed. Swim bladder issues.

Posted: 13 Mar 2021 09:54 PM PST

Hi, me again. My ranchu has been upside down for upwards of 4-5 days now. I fasted her for 4 of those days, and just fed her some peas this evening. I also gave her an epsom salt bath. Nothing I'm doing seems to be working and it's breaking my heart. She is developing burns on her tummy because it is exposed to the air so much. At this point, what can I do? At first I thought it was constipation (as a ranchu keeper, my other ranchus have had swim bladder issues that got resolved within a day) and was prepared to deal with that, but she has been floating upside down for days now. What do I do?

I understand I may just have to let her go. But I want to do everything in my power to help her before I reach that last option.

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Fish sleep

Posted: 13 Mar 2021 09:38 PM PST

Is it normal for fish to sleep with their fins tucked close to their body? I noticed it yesterday and when they would wake up from seeing me look at them their fins would spread out like they usually are. Is it normal?

Aquirumfishsale.com

Posted: 13 Mar 2021 05:40 PM PST

So I made a post not long ago about petco fish I have decided I want to buy from a breeder. I really want a panda oranda and have found some for sale by aquirumfishsale.com. A 2in fish is $20 and I can't find the price on the 4in ones or what they'll look like. Has anyone bought goldfish from them? I've bough my 3 from a breeder I love but since this will be my final goldfish for years to come I want to get my perfect fish. They pictures of them are kinda bad and since they're so little they haven't formed a wen so I am worried about what they're body will end up looking like. I have a 7.25 inch huge pearl scale who is a bulldozer. I need a fish that's a strong swimmer and I prefer longer fins. If you know of any other seller of panda oranda please drop them below.

Pond quality and quantity of fish

Posted: 13 Mar 2021 09:03 PM PST

Hi! My pond is about 1400 liters, and since i began with goldfsih in it(october) it has never been prettier and the water is crystal clear which was not before. I did an almost complete water change at the beggining of february and now it is still crystal clear. The funny thing is that there are more than 20 goldfish in it. 2 small kois and 3 adult goldfish, and the rest fries which are starting to get their colours and growing. Is it okay? I have LOTS of plants. Tomorrow i will post a video. But my real question is if i will have to take some of them out and relocate them? Also they keep spawning. Some days ago i saw tiny fry no more than two days old.

You guys liked a picture of my female ranchu, so here goes another one!

Hey!! I just got these three small boys from my local petshop. They told me they were younger than a year old. Could they be stunted? They must be 4 or 5 cm long

Roundworm came out of baby ranchu.

Roundworm came out of baby ranchu.

Hello,

I bought a baby ranchu bout 2 weeks ago. Almost right after I got him I noticed he was lethargic and he remained in mostly one spot either in the middle of the tank or laying very close to a smooth rock on the bottom, he also always swam with his head tilted down. When he did eat he would spit most of it out and his droppings were consistently very long and white and they hang off his butt for a long time, it looked like no food was getting through him.

I kept feeding peas and hikari sinking wafers with occasional bloodworm feedings. I also turned up the heading in his tank to 74 F in hopes it would speed up his metabolism.

Yesterday night after giving him some peas I returned to his tank and found some type of roundworm laying in the substrate, not really swimming but laying in a kind of horseshoe shape like it was confused. The ranchu is the only one in his tank and really the only fish I have big enough to support a parasite this size. I included some pictures of the worm below with petite frozen peas for a size comparison. The worm is round and thick, tapering off at both ends, I believe the more pointy side of it is it's anus. It's definitely not planeria or a detritus worm, my best guess is some type of parasitic nematode. Basically right after I found this worm my goldfish perked up and now he's swimming a lot better and sifting through the substrate which is something he almost never did, he's also looking less bloated and has started passing normal looking stools.

Could you please help me ID the worm and maybe recommend some further treatments for my goldfish?

I apologize for the essay I just wanted to be thorough.

Thanks for your help.

Is this red line a sign of a problem? Or just something normal I haven’t noticed before?

Posted: 13 Mar 2021 04:52 AM PST

Anyone ever have a fantail that's bloated only on one side? Could it be a parasite or a tumor?

Posted: 13 Mar 2021 10:15 AM PST

I got her about 2 months ago with 3 other fancies and she's the only survivor. They were all apparently sick while at the shop. I noticed she was a little swollen on her left side about 2 weeks ago, but she was swimming and eating fine. Now her left has doubled in size and she starting to go lopsided as she swims, no pineconing though. Has anyone had tapeworms or abdominal tumors in goldies? Would either of those normally present like this? She's probably less than a year old, so it's not eggs. I'm doing a run of general cure for now, but I'm just wondering if I should prepare myself to have to euthanize. Thanks for any advice or links to more info. I keep searching online and finding nothing.

I feed my 7cm oranda 4 2mm pellets 3 times a day. Is it too much?
