The ramshorn snails are so dang cute! And they've decimated the tank's algae!

Looking for help identifying this snail. Got it with a rescue betta and have no idea what it is. Thanks in advance :)

Breeding Mysteries?

Posted: 15 Mar 2021 06:50 PM PDT

I've recently fallen in love with mystery snails, I've got a gold and an ivory in my tank now that I've had for about a month now, and I want to try my hand at breeding. I'm fairly certain I've got a male and a female, considering the amount of "piggy back rides" I've seen, and am wondering how long it will take my female to lay eggs (it's been 2.5ish weeks since I noticed the first piggy back ride) and how long the eggs will take to hatch. I've also looked into the logistics of color when breeding and tbh don't understand most of it... with a gold and an ivory will I be looking at only gold and ivory for babies or will I have a chance for something else as well? I've watched some YouTube videos and anticipate using a wet paper towel to keep them moist while they hatch, I've got them in a smaller tank right now but I've got a larger tank that's just about finished cycling with no fish that is where I anticipate raising them. The larger tank, however, doesn't have as good of a lid (currently a metal "mesh" lid, will probably upgrade in the future) as my smaller one, so I'm thinking I let her lay in the small one (since they seem to tend to lay on the lid) and move the eggs to the large empty tank to hatch. Any tips for a beginner snail breeder would be appreciated!

What is this coming off one of my new ramshorns? Several of them looked like they had some sort of bubbles/small domes on them. I thought maybe they'd laid eggs on each other. But on this one it's coming off and looks like clear shell. Some snails arrived calcium deficient, could that be the cause?

Ramshorn lungs?

I just noticed my ramshorns' lung flap bits are out more than usual. Is this a sign of anything concerning?

Mystery Snail Eggs, not sure if actually developing

New snail owner, question on eating and calcium, please see comment.

I bought a gold snail (mystery I think) on March 13 to add to my 2.5 gallon nano tank. All seems good so far.

Yesterday (March 14) I fed it a shrimp pellet, and it went over and ate it and all looked good. Today I put in 1/2 of a cat scraper pellet (recommended from the LFS, which is a Natural Pet store, owned by PetsPlus I think). An hour after putting the pellet in, it was untouched. Should I read anything into this, such as it simply doesn't like those? I will work on making my own snello or other food.

Also, I have a Dr. Turtle calcium block to put in, but I think it's too big for my tank. I'm going to break off a piece, but didn't know how big the piece should be. The block is about 2"x3".

Found these globs at the bottom of my fish tank. Wondering if they're eggs. Please read the comment I have made on this post for full information.

Mystery Snail Help? (Possible murder mystery)

Posted: 15 Mar 2021 08:25 AM PDT

Hello! So I have a male mystery snail and he was recently dropped on the floor when I was taking the lid off of my tank that he was sitting on without me realizing. His shell is the same. Since then, he's been partly out but mostly in his shell, with his eyes and his siphon peaking out, for about a week. He smells strongly of fish, but not like death as some sources have suggested he would if he was dead. He stays in the same spot and sometimes ends up on his back. Should I pronounce him dead, or is he injured? If he is injured, should I euthanize him?

he's had a good run, and he's been through a lot with me as Ive gotten into the hobby. I just wanted to see if this has ever happened to anyone else. The only similar situation I've found was something on an aquarium forum from 2009.

Thank you!

Snail suggestions?

Posted: 15 Mar 2021 10:21 AM PDT

I have a 10 gal tank with mystery snails and now quite a few bladder snails. I don't have anything else in there and I want to expand the type of snails I have. I was thinking of ramshorn but I didn't know if you guys had any favorites. I do have nerite snails but they don't prefer this tank so i keep them seperate.

What is growing on my snail’s shell and should I be worried and/or is it okay to clean off?
