I need your help reddit: Is this playing (they never bite) or is something wrong with them? Before I could record the albino poked the other one in the genitals. Are they horny maybe? Both are male and they are siblings...

Finally getting somewhere!! What next?? Do I dose ammonia back up to 2ppm or wait until it goes to 0ppm? At what point do I need to change water?

My axolotl is sick! Help !!

Posted: 19 Jan 2021 06:41 AM PST

I recently moved my axolotl to a different place, I kept all his decor the same to keep it familiar for him. About two weeks after moving him I noticed he did not look well and when I gave him a little nudge it took him a second to notice and move around and he immediately went up for air after. I tried feeding him and he threw up his food that I had previously fed him 2 days prior. That was yesterday. Now he just looks sluggish, isn't trying to go into his hides like usual and his gills are forward. I'm not sure if I should try feeding him again or not, I haven't fed him since he threw up. I also checked his water and all his levels are fine.

Tank flooring options

Posted: 19 Jan 2021 09:39 AM PST

I do not own an axolotl currently and I'm just thinking about getting one in the future. Can large rocks that are far too large for them to swallow be used as the flooring? Or could I put something solid down, like a mat that's slightly textured and just covers the bottom of the floor. Just because I know that fine sand can be used but it's not always the best cuz they still swallow it, And I've seen some axolotls be bothered by nothing at the bottom of the tank as well.

Can a single axolotl be housed in a ten gallon tank?

Posted: 18 Jan 2021 08:08 PM PST

I'm doing some research on this topic but alas, the results have been inconclusive, so I turn to the sages of Reddit.

I recently came into possession of a ten gallon rectangular tank, and am looking to fill it. Axolotls are a dream animal for me, which means I'd love to have one, but I don't wanna mistreat them, so here I am. Can an axolotl live out a happy life in a tank such as the one I have, or should I get something else?

Feeding worms??

Posted: 18 Jan 2021 03:49 PM PST

When should I start feeding earthworms? My two axolotles can't keep them down when I try. Even when I cut them into smaller pieces. One is 4 1/2 and the other about 3inches. The bigger one seems to get frustrated and just quits trying.
