20L Low maintenance carpet plant suggestions

Posted: 12 Nov 2020 01:04 AM PST

Went from 1x 90g, 1x 75g, 1x 40g high, 1x 40g long, and 2x 10g to a 20g long. 40g breeder I considered high tech with co2, high lighting, ferts and dirted with eco-complete cap.

With this 20g long I'd like to do as little maintenance as possible. No water changes besides top offs(40g long was only tank I ever did water changes to), and no trimming(too lazy now and don't want to risk injuring/killing future cherry shrimp.

Substrate - I plan on having either aquasoil or pool filter sand or black diamond blasting sand.

Lighting - I'm thinking of going with beamswork ea 30" or beamswork 24/7 30" would consider suggestions here as well

Aquascape - none will be going for just a straight flat carpet with maybe 1 rock/driftwood

Plants - ??? Wanting low maintenance plant for carpeting currently looking at s repens or java moss carpet. If I went s repens I'd be okay trimming and replanting till carpet is formed then I'd add shrimp and stop trimming if that's possible. I am open to suggestions on a diff low maintenance carpet plant. Not wanting dwarf sag i feel it will be too tall and would need to be trimmed to desired height.

Livestock - cherry shrimp, otto's, maybe khuli loaches, and dwarf mexican crayfish. These would be added only after carpet has formed in.

Filter - either sponge filter or a small canister filter with sponge pre-filter if co2 is needed

Misc - would be okay with adding co2, metracide, and thrive ferts if needed. But not wanting to do measured dry ferts dosing.
