beach finds to decorate tank?

Posted: 16 Nov 2020 11:08 PM PST

I live close to the ocean and have a huge bag of rocks, shells, and dead sand dollars I pick up and put in my pocket anytime I go to the beach. theyve all been washed and have been sitting in a bag in my closet for about a year at this point, would they be safe to use as tank decor? I'm sure the larger rocks would be fine, but any googling on the shells and sand dollars only bring up saltwater and reef tank forums, which isnt exactly helpful for me and my goldies. thanks in advance for any advice :)

I heard that food and diet affect the wen to become yellow. This is a picture from the store vs. 1 month of keeping her. Is there any goldfish foods that keep the web white? Thanks! I feed her hilarious fancy goldfish food.

I believe my oranda has ulcers and I can't take him to the vet until the end of this weekend. For those that dealt with ulcers, what med do you recommend and what was your procedure.

What Games Do You Play with Your Fish? Give me some ideas!

Posted: 16 Nov 2020 04:00 PM PST

So, lately I've been playing with a laser pointer with both my Ranchu and my betta. I'm not one for touching my fish or "petting them" and the sort, it makes me uncomfortable thinking that I may accidentally damage their slime coat. I've been wondering then, do you guys have any non-invasive ways of interacting with your fish? What do you do?

Food Aggression

Posted: 16 Nov 2020 09:50 PM PST

Hello, new to goldfish keeping. I have 4 goldfish in a 75 gallon tank, 2 black moors, 1 oranda, and 1 ryukin. Everyone seems to get along except for one of the black moors who pushes the oranda and ryukin around during feeding time. There's certainly enough space for everyone and everyone is well fed so I am confused as to why the black moor has food aggression.

Quick question!

Could I put one telescope goldfish in a 10 gallon tank or would it not be happy in something that small?

Goldfish keeps sinking to bottom of tank and barely moving

Posted: 16 Nov 2020 07:12 PM PST

Hi friends -- our goldfish has started acting strangely the past 24 hours, often sinking into a corner for long stretches of time (a few times to the point we thought he died!) before shaking into action like his usual self.

We changed his water 50% yesterday and 10% today. We also added 5ml Melafix since we suspect he may also have some fin rot we didn't notice earlier. He has chronic swim bladder so we gave him some bits of boiled kale today as well that he's nibbled at the few times he swims up from the bottom.

Any further guidance on what we should do to help him would be much appreciated. Thanks r/Goldfish!

Is my goldfish bored?

Posted: 16 Nov 2020 10:22 AM PST

Ok so this might sound stupid and maybe I'm thinking too much about it but do goldfish get bored? I just have a common goldfish from the fair. I've read they are pretty smart. A lot of times he swims around picking at stuff looking for food, I'm assuming, but other times he just kinda swims around and idk, maybe I'm reading too much into it, but he seems bored. What can I do to give him some stimulation?

Oranda Goldfish Ich Help

Posted: 16 Nov 2020 11:32 AM PST

Okay so today was Cheese's last day of Ich treatment, and as I've noticed that he doesn't have almost any white bumps, his fins where the ich *was* are kind of white and cloudy looking. Is this just fin damage from the Ich, and will it heal with time? Or is this something else? He's acting normally still, no clamped fins and swimming around. He comes up to the top of the tank when I make eye contact with him because he thinks it's time to eat lol. But I don't want him to get sick with some other stuff literally right after I finish treating him for Ich.

Long story short, what's with the cloudy white stuff on his tail? (His tail is normally white and kind of see through, but all the spots where there was Ich, it's become cloudy. It looks kind of like mold? But I don't think it is..)
