| Should I add Marimo Moss to my Bare Bottom Goldfish Tank or is it a No-No? Posted: 08 Nov 2020 11:54 AM PST Hi! I would just like to ask the community how your fish have gotten along with Marimo moss balls. My boyfriend and I think my bare bottom vaguely resembles a hospital at the moment and I want to liven it up with a plant or something so that the fish have something to interact with besides themselves. One of them is definitely a little more tactile that the other - when we had a planted tank he loved to swim through the crypts and wiggle through the pennywort and sift through rocks - so I would like to have something for him to interact with. Would Marimo moss be a good investment, or would they destroy it within a day or two? What other suggestions would you guys have (e.g., green carpet algae, maybe driftwood with plants, etc.)? All your advice is appreciated, thank you in advance!! [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 08 Nov 2020 12:42 PM PST About a month ago I developed multiple issues with my fish and I would check their tank with a flashlight to see how they were progressing or sleeping. Turns out I threw off my biggest fish sleep cycle. He's a bit bloated and figured he had dropsy but he eats and acts normal in the day. He goes to sleep at sunset and is awake by around 2 or 3 AM, waiting for whatever was waking him up. I would advise from checking your fish at night because it could throw off their natural sleep cycle. I thought my fish was sick. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 08 Nov 2020 07:59 AM PST I have an infestation of bladder snails in my shrimp tank (no goldfish). I read that goldfish can eat snails - is this true? and if so, can i just pull all the bladder snails out of my shrimp tank and drop them in my goldfish tank for them to eat? Any suggestions are welcome [link] [comments] | ||
| How many goldfish can be temporarily overwintered In a 15 gallon (64)l Posted: 08 Nov 2020 06:39 AM PST Average size of my fancy goldfish are around 3 inches how many can I keep in a 15 gal for maybe 4 months? [link] [comments] | ||
| My nitrite have never gone to 0 Posted: 08 Nov 2020 10:31 AM PST I'm going on my 6th week of cycling using ammonia and I have done a few water changes because my nitrite and nitrate were super high. Today my ammonia is at 0 but my nitrite is at about 5 ppm and my nitrate is at about 20ppm. It took my ammonia 5 days to go to 0 but my nitrite stays around 2/5ppm Is this how the cycling goes? Will my nitrite start to drop at some point? Should I dose ammonia again? Should I do a water change? My nitrite have never dropped to 0 even with a water change. I'm using a freshwater master test kit. Thanks for the help! [link] [comments] | ||
| Quiet canister filter for 126L tank Posted: 08 Nov 2020 06:53 AM PST Hey gang, I've got a brand new 126L /33Gal tank that came with a Biomax filter and Sicce pump. Unfortunately, this sucker is a bit too loud for the office where it lives so I'm thinking maybe a canister filter would serve me better? Planning on having a few plants and 2 fancies in there when it's all cycled. I've seen various things telling me that Fluval 107 is great and super quiet, or that it's terrible and noisy... any recommendations? Tank is an Aqualantis tank that is about 980mm long. | Posted: 08 Nov 2020 03:27 AM PST Hello! A couple of questions for two new goldfish about to join my family :) 1.how long do I need to cycle the fish tank before I put the fish in? I read online mixed advice that either says 4-6 weeks or 2 days! 2. They are a black moor and a fantail. Do they need different type of food (given one is a bit faster)? 3. Best substrate? :) [link] [comments] |
