Sorry if this is a simple one. My mum is taking care of the class Axolotl, and it's developing black markings around its lips. This has been getting more prevalent. Is this something to be worried about?

So upset with my boy. He made me think he was sick/constipated all day. But no, he just wanted to float.

Today my lotl began floating next to an artificial plant he upturned. I got scared because he's never floated before and had been at the top of the tank almost all day, so I did some research and read that he might be constipated.

So I get him a tub made up and go to get him out of the tank and he just dashes to the bottom and just sits there. I keep an eye on him for the next 15-20 min and he chills at the bottom for a bit then goes back to his plant to relax.

Finally finished with anubias, anarchis, java fern, and some water lettuce. Sand mixed with a pebble backsplash from home depot plus ceramic pots. Dosed tank with ammonia and the levels are dropping...can read nitrates but no nitrites. Is this normal during cycling? Thanks!
