Darwin has grown to be an absolute unit of a snail. Show of hands, who brushes the algae off of their snails shell?

Are these freshwater limpets? They don’t look like any snail babies I’ve seen before. (Currently have pond snails(ugh), mystery, and trapdoors stocked).

Is hydrogen peroxide safe for snails?

Posted: 05 Nov 2020 04:40 PM PST

I have some black beard algae in my tank with live plants, wondering if I use hydrogen peroxide in my tank (shutting off filter and light for a while, then adding hydrogen peroxide to my tank water) would that hurt my snails at all?

Mystery snail not moving?

Posted: 05 Nov 2020 05:24 PM PST

Hi guys, I have 3 mystery snails in my 10 gallon aquarium with my betta. A couple weeks ago one of my snails stopped moving. I checked every day to see if he died because I know having a dead snail in the tank can be harmful for the tank. Every time I checked he would move his body in his shell so I knew he was alive. I just don't know what to do, he hasn't moved for weeks. I put blanched cucumbers in there for them to eat, my water parameters are great, and my other two snails are growing and thriving. Any help?

my new fancy nerite, hiding under a log

Why is there a bunch of white dots? My Nerite snail is leaving them everywhere, but it's a freshwater tank and not brackish water. Maybe they're unfertilized eggs?

Snail species

I have sand that needs agitating. I heard that agitation helps plants grow roots + gets rid of bubbles underneath the sand.

Looking at installing a few snails that actually burrow and do their stuff in tanks 5g and up. Any recommendations beyond MTS? I've heard so many stories about MTS getting out of control so it would be really nice if it was a snail that didn't go crazy with reproduction. Or better yet, a snail that actually needs 2 to tango.

No mysteries or nerites please, the former is too big for ammonia spikes + latter too specialized for algae.

If you know you know

Just ripped one and it was so rank with such a long hang time I had to get up and check my fish tank because I was worried my black devil spike snail died. He's fine. I am ashamed. Anyone else with devil spike stories?

Pond snails but live in Australia so can't get assassin snails

Posted: 05 Nov 2020 03:12 PM PST

What are my other options to get rid of the pond snails in my tank? At first I didn't mind them because I had a lot of algae but now there are at least 20+ that I can see. I keep picking them out when I see them but I think they are in the filter as well as the tank. I don't want to use chemicals as my tank is only 18L and I'm afraid I'll kill the other aquatic life. Please if anyone has any other options it'd really help! I love my mini aquarium 🥺

help!

Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:53 AM PST

My mystery snail has vanished from its shell! I cleaned their tank early yesterday and noticed it had gone missing last night. I have 1 platty, 1 long fin tetra, 2 frogs and 2 other snails as Tank mates. All snails were fine during the cleaning and moving around after being put back in their tank. I looked for a body but haven't found one just yet. I've had this snail about 6 months (first time caring for snails) and it's always been super active. I just want an idea of what I should do and what may have happened to my snail. Thank you!
