| My rabbit snail had a baby and im so excited! Posted: 13 Nov 2020 11:03 AM PST I have never really kept snails before (besides the assasins in my betta tank) but we decided to get some nerite snails for our larger set up and were shown in the shop some rabbit snails and fell in love. We bought the last 2 the store had and I've been obsessed with them ever since. We've had them now for about a month and my husband just spotted a tiny baby on one of our rocks! I'm so excited as we were told they're not easy to breed at all. I guess we really lucked out! Just had to tell someone and thought I'd post it here haha [link] [comments] | ||

| Care for Snails(and shrimps) While on One Week vacation? Posted: 14 Nov 2020 03:08 AM PST Basically title. I'll be leaving for a week and don't have anyone that can look after these guys. I have seen little blocks that people make for their snails, but I have no idea what it is. All I know is that it's good and gelatinous I think. Would I make something like that? I have seen a comment about how you just leave them be and they'll be fine eating whatever algae and plant matter? Will the snails get enough algae even with the shrimps? I'm not even sure if they'll have enough food. What should I do? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 14 Nov 2020 02:28 AM PST I three snails (two mysteries and a nerite) in my 10g betta tank and one of the mysteries goes through blanched vegetables (especially kale) at lightning speed. I'm pretty sure I could put a whole leaf in there and it'd be gone by the next day. So, questions: 1) If you feed blanched vegetables, how much do you give your snails per day/feeding? 2) Is there a "too much" to feed them? I know bettas and other fish will bloat but I don't know anything about overfeeding snails or if that's even a thing. 3) On the other side of the spectrum, how little food will hurt/kill them? I worry that since my one mystery gets to the vegetables so quickly and plows through them, the other two won't get a chance. They're both pretty slow moving and I don't think I've ever seen either eat any veggies. I fed the two groups in separate areas today (the two slower ones were in another area of the tank already) but in case that doesn't work, is there anything else I can do to make sure they get the food they need? I want to make sure my little guys are happy and healthy but I'm having a hard time finding information about how to do that in regards to food. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 13 Nov 2020 10:25 PM PST Hello, last week I noticed I hadn't seen my zebra nerite in a day or two (usually normal for him, but I was worried as he had escaped before) I checked around the tank and found him on the floor at the bottom of the tank stand, he was in his shell but hadn't dried out so I put him back in expecting him to bounce back as he did before. Well, it's been a little over a week and he hasn't come out of his shell. I've searched how to test if they're dead, he doesn't smell, his foot is securely closed, I've tested the parameters and they're all normal. I gently shook him tonight and he remained shut. Is he dead? Any help is appreciated, thank you! [link] [comments] | ||

| Would it be okay to keep 10 mystery snails together in a snail-only 10 gal? Posted: 13 Nov 2020 02:56 PM PST I currently have 10 mystery snails (averaging around the size of a penny or a dime) distributed among 4 betta tanks. I'm tired of the betta fish gorge themselves when I feed the snails so I want to make a snail only tank. Would a 10 gal be enough to house all 10 snails? [link] [comments] | ||
