The time Ephialtes hitched a ride on the thermometer while I was cleaning the tank (I helped him get off the ride shortly after, don't worry)

I have a mystery snail in a two gallon tank- it's just her in there and I got her a couple of months ago but today there were two snail babies floating in the water. They're moving and alive but I don't know what the heck to do to keep them alive

Freshwater ecosystems?

Posted: 11 Nov 2020 09:34 PM PST

First post to this thread. I have 3 tanks. A 10 gallon with a baby musk, and 4 mystery snails. A 20 gallon with a baby mississippi spiny softshell and an albino placo, as well as a 40 gallon with a larger baby painted turtle (currently looking for a turtle companion for her) and two placos. I would like advice on what kind of live plants to add to the tanks, as well as other freshwater cleaner fish/aquatic organisms that might go well in each tank. All but the 40 gallon have sand.

Are my gold mysteries breeding? From what i can tell the bottom one is a female and the one on top is a male just from the snail coloring.

Help!! Camallanus Worms in Mystery Snails

Posted: 11 Nov 2020 12:33 PM PST

Any help would be extremely appreciated!! I have two mystery snails in a 10 gallon tank. There are NO FISH. I'm bewildered as to how they've managed to reproduce without a fish host. I've read that invertebrates can only be intermediate hosts and that the worms will not be able to reach their full life cycle in snails alone. But low and behold there are little red worms wriggling through the substrate and peeking out of my poor snails shells. I've already researched treatments. Have yet to find one that isn't toxic to snails. I've seen that other people take their snails out of the tank when they treat the rest of their tank. This seems a bit paradoxical in my case because i ONLY have snails. My plan is to completely clean out the tank, remove plants and substrate. My only clear option is to monitor them closely. PLEASE let me know what i can do. I don't want to have to loose my babies.

Shell Health

Posted: 11 Nov 2020 08:13 AM PST

I have a 10g tank with lots of ramshorn snails. The younger ones look really healthy, but some of the older ones have white stripes on their shell. There are also 3 shrimps in the tank along with some frogbit, an Anubis, and a java fern.

I'm assuming that it's a problem with calcium. I have cuttlebone in the tank and the pH is at 8. I feed them crab cuisine. Any idea on what else to try to make sure everyone stays healthy?

Also, how do I know that I'm feeding them enough?

Thanks!
