Even though you have thick and white shell, I still have to put you in lower grade section since your legs are not fully red

Advice for catching/moving shrimp across tanks?

Posted: 14 Oct 2020 12:59 AM PDT

Hi! I'm relocating a bunch of shrimp from my large mixed tank, but the tank is heavily planted and I'm struggling to catch any shrimp in my fish net. Any tips to peacefully catch and relocate shrimp into a new tank? Right now I have my fish net resting on the bottom with some shrimp pellets in it, waiting for an unsuspecting shrimp to walk into my trap but I'm not super confident that will work....
There are just too many obstacles and places for them to hide! Thanks in advance

My largest baby shrimp recently got this strange opaque spot on her back. None of my other shrimp have this. Could it be muscle necrosis?

Possible for baby amanos to survive in fresh water?

Posted: 13 Oct 2020 05:48 PM PDT

So I'm pretty sure I have a few amanos that have made it to a cm. Long. Maybe I'm confusing them with a different species in the tank as there are a few.. but damn it looks like it. But they would have been born and surviving in freshwater only. Not brackish. Only like 4 of them maybe only 3. But still. They are small but bigger than I thought. About a cm long. Thoughts? Experiences?

Need help! Three Auden shrimp deaths

Posted: 13 Oct 2020 10:56 PM PDT

I'm so scared for my shrimps life :(

I recently got into shrimp tanks, I currently have a 10g right now. I had 3 blue rili shrimp and about 8-9 ghost shrimp. Everything was going well for a week or so (tank just finished cycling) until tonight there were three random ghost shrimp deaths! Two of them were berried and one wasn't.

My parameters are:

pH: 7.2

Ammonia: ~0.25

Nitrite: 0

Nitrate: 0

I know the ammonia isn't 0 but the rilis are doing just fine and it's still really low..Maybe I didn't cycle the tank long enough? It had been cycling for about 2-3 weeks before I started putting ghosties in. Had a few deaths because I had new tank syndrome but after that everything was perfect for a while. I used API quick start and use bacter AE every day.

Please help! I don't want anymore shrimpy deaths. Thank you! :(

Sorry if I'm a bit jumbled, I feel pretty sad about them dying.
