Here is the place to post questions about pest ID, coral/fish ID, your cycle, or any other questions that generally wouldn't start up a conversation. If you have an interesting or unique question please create a new thread so everyone can discuss it in length!

These are some great resources for ID's of pests/algae.

Ich Plague that won’t go away!

Posted: 03 Oct 2020 12:17 AM PDT

I've had my 10 gallon nano-reef tank for a little over a month now. The first 2 fish I got from a local reef store had ich and died a few days after I put them in my cycled tank. I didn't know it was ich at the time since I was still new to marine life, but I showed the owner of the reef shop photos of my dead fish and just said he'd give me 2 more for free since those 2 died. He never told me it was ich, I had to find that out myself on this subreddit a couple weeks ago. Of the next 2 fish, my Wyoming white died of ich because I couldn't see the white spots on him. Then I tried curing the tank with Super Ich Cure by API, and it worked a little. The white spots on my Black hybrid became a lot smaller, but didn't go away after the first treatment, so I repeated it (each treatment is 96 hours). After 2 rounds of treatment, my black hybrid died with no signs of ich. People told me it was because he was paired to the Wyoming white and died of stress and depression from loneliness. After that, I gravel vacced my sand 3 times, and did 3 20% water changes over the next 10 days. Everyone I talked to said that'd be enough to kill the ich. So I bought a Orchid Dottyback. I've had him for a little over 10 days now, and I've started noticing some white specs on him. I don't know how it's back, and how the 2 treatments didn't kill it, but I need to get rid of this Ich. I just bought a UV light filter as recommended by the reef shop owner, but I wanted to come on here and get some other opinions on how to handle this. I just dosed my tank for the 4th time with the Super Ich Cure. I don't think it's working.

My bootleg RODI mixing station until I build a table for it and figure out a proper drain for it (left bin is for waste water, right for fresh RODI water).

Is this a good deal

Just got my first fish, lets see how this plays out. Too much flow or just getting adjusted? I just put them in.

Metal stand for 40 breeder with sump?

Posted: 02 Oct 2020 08:30 PM PDT

Hey guys, so I'll be setting up a 40 breeder once we move and rather than build a stand, I'd like a metal stand that way I can skin it easier with magnets, but I'm unsure of whether or not the Imagitarium stand would work, as it doesn't look like I could put a sump in the bottom.

I'm not 100% opposed to building a stand but buying would be easier. Any suggestions?
