Can anyone help me identify this creature. It looks like a salamander or newt but it is completely in water. I accidentally caught him by scooping up some dirt and water from a very small stream in my yard. I plan too release him today. I never intended to capture a animal this big.

Is charcoal necessary for terrestrial ecosystem?

Posted: 19 Oct 2020 08:22 PM PDT

I've heard that charcoal is needed to produce carbon, clean the soil/water and some other stuff, and i want to know how necessary it is. I can easily get some, I just want to know the function of it and if I actually need it or not

How much water is too much in a jarrarium?

Posted: 19 Oct 2020 08:11 PM PDT

I recently made a terrestrial jarrarium for my biology class and I'm not sure if it has too much water, I was told that if there is condensation 24/7 then there is too much, but im not sure if thats correct. The actual layer of water doesnt pass the 1.5 - 2 inch layer of gravel at the bottom of my jar, but i have enough so none of my dirt is ever completely dry, and there is always at least a small amount amount of condensation on the sides, but it doesn't seem to affect the worms that live in it.

Basically I just want to know a way to know if I have too much water, if you can help me out I would appreciate it
