Anyone have an ID on this horrible lifeform? Found on the bottom of my quarantine tank. It's white with one black end and forked at the other/moving end. Q tip for scale.

do you think its ethical to keep bubble eyes?

Posted: 31 Oct 2020 02:12 PM PDT

i think theyre sooo cute and i was considering getting one in the future. but ive also heard that theyre so delicate, have a low quality of life and are very likely to experience infections, so maybe not. would buying one be ethical?

Please Help Poor Sick Steve

Hello!

I'm at my wits end. Steve is about 3 years old. We've been dealing with his tail for about two months now. It started with white dots on his tail so I treated for Ick with salt and Parasite Remedy. The dots turned into ulcers and Steve started acting dumpy. After more internet research, I decided it might be bacterial rather than a parasite (I've had this tank for about 6 years and I haven't introduced anything new into the tank.) I treated the tank with Melafix, but he just kept getting worse. Two weeks ago, over a day, chunks of his tail broke off. I've treated him with two rounds of Maracyn Two. The first one seemed to help, but the second one did not. I feed Steve frozen blood worms and frozen brine shrimp (thawed) in the morning and a few Omega One pellets. A couple of times a week he gets peas. In the mornings, he's excited for food, but after he eats, he's just been laying in a corner under his filter. I typically do an 80% (or more) water change twice a week. According to my API Test Strips, the tank parameters are consistently at 0 for Nitrate, 0 for Nitrite, between 7 and 7.5 for the PH. Anyways, his poor tail is just a huge bloody, ulcer-y mess, and I feel so bad for him. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I've tried everything, and I'm not sure what else I can do. I've tried calling vets, but none in my area will help goldfish.

The tank started a about 10 years ago with two different fish. After I got married, my husband and I moved the two fish into a 55 gallon tank. Those two fish had babies (oops) and the two fish we have now, Steve and Bucky, are the fish that are currently in the tank. The parents both passed away around May of this year. They were 12 so I think they just passed from old age. I have not added any new fish to the tank, or any new tank decorations. I haven't changed up their food or any chemicals recently (other than the medications I've been trying.)

Please help goldfish is sick?

Posted: 31 Oct 2020 08:56 AM PDT

So my goldfish is a little over a year old and recently he's been acting off,or sick,I did some research and had thought he had a swim bladder infection, what's wrong is he's been sinking at the bottom of the tank, and has trouble swimming and can only seem to swim sideways,he sits and acts as if he were dead and it scares me to see him like this,he's a normal goldfish I got at a carnival so I have no clue what type of goldfish he is but does anyone have any clue what I can do? I know goldfish live to be 20 and I want a long nice life for him,but with my living condition only being a simple high schooler I don't have access to very much without parents permission but please if anyone could help save my buddys life please tell me what I should do,thank you

Is there something wrong with this lil dude? He sits at the bottom a lot. No ammonia, no nitrites, 10 nitrates. The tank mate is doing just fine.

White spots on fish

Posted: 31 Oct 2020 12:01 PM PDT

I recently discovered spots on the fins of one of my goldfish. He was a bit lethargic and his dorsal fin was clamped up. I waited a day to see if it was Ich and no new spots have been seen on any other fish. Will be doing a full water change and deep cleaning of tank today just in case. He eats normally and he looks way better today. He has very tiny holes in his tail left from from the spots but I'm pretty sure it's not ich if it hasn't gotten onto other fish. Maybe a fungus infection or virus? What could it be?
