Advice PLS

Posted: 18 Oct 2020 02:28 PM PDT

My grandma gave me an aquarium that was heavily overstocked, 4 fancies and a pleco in a 30ish gallon tank. Since I don't have room to fit a bigger tank in my room, I plan on getting a 100 gallon stock pond When should I set this up since it's turning fall. Any feedback is welcome.

Tips for hospital tank?

Posted: 18 Oct 2020 11:37 AM PDT

TLDR I saved a baby ranchu from my local pet store yesterday. I have him in a 10 gal quarantine tank right now, bare bottom with an air stone. Any tips for a good hospital tank? I considered getting a heater but since goldfish are cold water fish I wasn't sure. Any advice is appreciated! This is my first time doing this and I want to make sure he's thoroughly cared for.

Question about tank upgrade

Posted: 18 Oct 2020 07:57 AM PDT

So I just bought a 45 gallon tank for my goldfish. He has been in a 20 gallon tank for a few years and needs room to grow. So my question is, if I were to put the entirety of his current tanks water into the new tank, then add treated tap water to fill the rest of the tank, will that be safe? Or will I need to allow the new tank to go through a nitrogen cycle first? I am used to caring for my fish, but such a big tank is overwhelming and I don't know where to start or how to transition my fish into a new tank without hurting him.

Was told a 400 gal/hr filter may hurt my Gold's when they are still super small. True?

Posted: 18 Oct 2020 12:00 PM PDT

Hey everyone! I'm debating between the Marineland Penguin (350gal/hr) vs the Marineland Emperor (400 gal/hr) for my 55gal tank and someone told me that the 400 might be hazardous to my two gold's health since they are still under 2 inch. Is this true. I haven't seen this anywhere else. Any experience with these filters? Thanks everyone!

Swim Bladder

Posted: 18 Oct 2020 11:27 AM PDT

I've been having issues with one of my goldfish for a couple months now. He developed swim bladder a couple months back but it wasn't too bad and there would be days where he would swim normally. Recently, he's been spending more time at the top of the tank he has some reddish spots where he's been exposed to the air. Is there a way I can't treat his swim bladder and treat his dry skin? I've been reluctant to try anything because I've been doing the same things for 15 years and all my fish are healthy. I just don't want to kill them in the process by trying to save one. Please help.

What does it mean if an Oranda's red cap is "popped"?

Posted: 18 Oct 2020 05:44 AM PDT

some of the Orandas at my local fish store have their red caps "popped" or damaged. What does this mean? this is only on some of the Orandas, not all.
are they sick or is this because of nipping/crowding?
I didn't buy one because I was afraid they're sick or have a parasite.

Ph won’t go up!

Posted: 18 Oct 2020 03:54 AM PDT

Hi everyone....again lol. So I just finished my cycle and got my nitrate down to 5. I went to the fish shop to check that everything was ok but my ph had dropped. They gave me seashells and I took the driftwood out of my tank. It's been a couple of days and I changed the water yesterday (like 70%). I got it to 7 that evening but I woke up this morning and it dropped to 6.4 again! I'm just wondering why it's continuing to drop? I have a few rocks and stones, gravel and some fake plants. I can't think of anything that's causing it to drop. My god this cycle is starting to get really irritating but I know that I have to get this right lol. Any ideas?
