Hi. What kind of snails are these? They appeared in my aquarium right after I placed the plants in so I think they were attached to the plants when I bought them.

Snail death :/

Posted: 19 Oct 2020 07:22 PM PDT

Mystery snail died in my 29 gallon tank over the weekend. Both of the others in the tank are fine. Did a test strip and almost everything was off, especially the ammonia. Did a 20% water change on Saturday. How soon will parameters go back to normal? Thank!

A hitchhiker friend

Posted: 19 Oct 2020 08:42 PM PDT

So I will admit, I didn't quarantine my plant when I got it because I put it in a tank that I am currently cycling. Well, I found a little baby snail crawling on the glass this morning that is a pond snail. I was debating keeping the little guy. There is only the one. Does anybody have any pros and cons they could give about this hitchhiker of mine? Thanks.

Tank size for a channeled apple snail?

Posted: 19 Oct 2020 06:28 PM PDT

currently have him housed with my mystery snails (1 adult, 2 teenagers) in a 10 gallon snail only tank and just found out he's a channeled apple snail and will be twice their size. i also have a 5 gallon tall tank that needs to cycle, but now i'm thinking maybe i should trade it towards a larger tank for the channeled baby. what size is recommended for them?

Getting rid of ramshorn and bladder snails?

Posted: 19 Oct 2020 06:05 PM PDT

My tank has become overrun by ramshorn and bladder snails that were introduced via new plants! What's the best way to get rid of them?

(I cannot purchase assassin snails as they are illegal to sell here in Australia so very hard to find)

Malaysian trumpet snails failing to thrive?

Posted: 19 Oct 2020 01:11 PM PDT

I have bladder snails, ramshorn snails, mystery snails, and (unfortunately) mini ramshorns who all thrive in my aquariums. I also have 2 pond snails, and they're doing alright, but sadly they aren't breeding.

However, for some reason, Malaysian trumpet snails just fail in my tanks. I've tried to introduce them 3 times but I always stop seeing them after a month or two, which I assume is because they died. Is it possible that they're simply getting out-competed by other species? What else could the issue be?

how much to feed & water quality

Posted: 19 Oct 2020 07:29 AM PDT

I have a 10 G tank w/ 1 nerite & 1 mystery. I'm not sure how much to feed. I know that the mystery will overeat & I had issues with ammonia. I've also had recent nematode outbreak. Despite two 30-50% water & filter changes, their water still looks greenish. I feed zucchini, peas & algae wafers every couple of days.
