Oh hello!

I found this tiny worm in my goldfish tank water— is it something I should be worried about? (Ignore the scuds swimming around, they’re cool)

From a dirty tank, to a clean tank, to a 100 gal pond. This old fancy goldfish hit the jackpot in life. Rescue ❤️

Hey guys I recently began to have issues with my fish tank water. Please help it's cloudy green with a bit of brown. I don't know what to do I replaced about 80% of the water and then the next day it turned green again![Imgur](https://imgur.com/gallery/KJh083I)

My oranda has a large, black parasite embedded in his wen

My oranda has a large, black parasite embedded in his wen

I'm sure you all get tired of identifying parasites, but I could really use some help. My two-year-old oranda, Hleb, has a large black mass embedded in his wen. I noticed it earlier this week but thought that it was normal wen growth. It's gotten exponentially larger in the past two days. I added four Japanese trapdoor snails about a month and a half ago, so my assumption is that they brought in whatever this is. I can't tell if I'm hallucinating it or not, but the mass appears to wriggle inside Hleb's wen. He's been eating and acting normally. I've done a deep clean on his tank. What do I do? Do you recognize this parasite? Do you have recommendations for treatments? Since it is on his wen, I am willing to attempt a surgical removal if it comes to that. Any advice? I've included photos. (He looks really sweet in them.)

Is it true Goldfish are more prone to manipulation by their environment, and disease than any other type of fish?

Posted: 29 Sep 2020 11:25 AM PDT

I remember visiting a zoo some years ago in Maryland and they also had an aquarium in it. One of the things that surprised me was a tank of goldfish that were bigger than any other goldfish I had ever seen. Some were also slightly deformed with knots and bulbs on their head. A friend that was with me said that goldfish are more prone to disease than any other fish, and that they grow depending on the size of their environment. That part didnt shock me too much because I know octopus also do the same, and thats why pet octopus are usually incredibly small, but I didnt know about the disease thing. But its been years now, and this just popped in my head and Im wondering how true that is. I checked the wikis, and other information outlets, but nothing conclusively talks about how disease prone goldfish are, or can be, and if they are in fact the most among all other species of fish. None of them also confirm if goldfish can continue to grow depending on the size of their environment, or if it was just a species thing, or if they indeed have a hard cap on their growth to a point.

Help, there is something wrong with my fish.

My Oranda goldfish is in a 20 gallon tank. We left her for 3 days, and i came back at night to feed her. Before we left she was active always swimming around and seemed happy. When we came back she was lethargic. After noticing us she became happy and started swimming around. However, two days later she swims around really fast and erratic, banging into stuff, chasing her reflection, then like a switch of a button, she sits in the bottom of the tank. I have no clue what to do, please help.

Planning on using this for 55 gallon tank for 3 fancy goldfish. Is this a good brand or should I get a Fluval. I can only get the Fluval 307 but the gph is nowhere close to this one.

Epsom salt bath or directly into the tank?

Posted: 29 Sep 2020 11:44 AM PDT

Isolated my sick fish and I'm picking up Kanaplex for her right now from the vets. I have pure Epsom salts too, should I remove her from the tank and do salt baths or add it directly to the tank? Are there benefits of doing one or the other? Will Epsom salts affect the medication? Thanks!

Breeding inquiries.

Posted: 29 Sep 2020 11:32 AM PDT

Hello there r/Goldfish , I am not new to the goldfish hobby but I am looking to expand my hobby now that I have equipment, funds, and time to do so.

I am looking at getting into the breeding aspect of goldfish, mainly Ranchu since they have always had a place in my heart. I have always had to travel quite a distance to find any good breeder or seller for these little sea cows. Thought why cant I see if I'm able to give this a try. Everyone starts somewhere.

I found the breeding101 wiki provided a good base understanding, most seemed directed at a more beginner approach. I was wondering if anyone had any other great resources?

Also when it comes to gathering breeders, once decided which are male/female. How many do you want to add into a breeding tank? also what kind of conditions best contribute to the breeding process? (water quality, ph, light duration and intensity, size of tank, feeding process during breeding).

Thanks to anyone who took the time to read/ respond. Any added info is appreciated, I do love studying and expanding my understanding.

Cheers.
