Goldfish - Aquariums - My Fish all died this week

My Fish all died this week

Posted: 17 Sep 2020 11:49 AM PDT

Their tank was leaking so i moved them to a smaller tank for a short while and resealed their aquarium and moved them home last week and they all got an infection and died this week. in the 23 years I've been keeping goldfish I've never had more than one fish die at any time. I guess it was just too much for the little guys and they appear to have died of an infection that caused internal bleeding. Fish medication has been made illegal in canada and there was nothing i could do but use salt and melafix and pray.

Not looking for advice. I'm just sad. I've been crying. Only you folks will understand.

goldfish in distress

Posted: 17 Sep 2020 07:38 PM PDT

hi guys my goldfish are having issues, I have a 290 litre tank water parameters are typically 0 ammonia 0 nitrites 10-15 nitrates..id prefer the nitrates to be somewhere around 5 but my tap water reads at 10 so thats unfortunate. I have two fancies that I got from a pet shop about two weeks ago..yesterday I noticed they looked a bit distressed so checked the water parameters and found the nitrates had shot up to 40 ppm so did a 40 % water change..i try to do two water changes weekly but in the last week with work I didnt have time to do a change at all.. today they still look distressed and now my blackmoor has come out in white patches..im assuming its something viral or fungal due to stress from the water issue..so i dosed the tank with half the recommended dose of multicure for fungal diseases, white spot, velvet disease ect.I didnt add the full dose because i haven't used this product before and wanted to just go easy..i understand that these issues arise from poor water quality typically and alot of people disagree with using medicines, So since dosing the tank my blackmoor looks worse..they are both showing distress and hanging out at the surface together in a corner..they are gulping at the surface a bit and one of them occasionally stops swimming and kind of floats down..they are fin down nose up..every now and then they go off and explore but then they return to this spot and just hover..at one point the blackmoor caught sight of me and went berserk..this is extremely bizarre as he usually swims up to me for food and is generally a happy and very friendly fish.Im so sad and I don't feel like I have the experience to properly predict what's going on..i am totally inexperienced when its comes to goldfish. They are in a very heavily planted tank so I can imagine that there is probably a degree of food and waste build-up in the areas that i struggle to clean but the water parameters are always good with the exception of the occasional nitrate rise 10-20ppm.The ingredients listed in the product are malachite green, methyl blue and acriflavine..which I've read can kill plants..but id rather replace my plants then replace my poor fish. Am I going about all of this is the wrong way..i feel so frustrated because they day before yesterday they looked so good.

Added Scarper to the main tank last night and introductions went -ahem- swimmingly! My little goldie family is complete ❤️ Here they are foraging in the Amazon (sword) Forest together (I do plan to declutter as they get bigger/less agile, but for now they love all the different foraging spots!)

Goldfish died suddenly

Posted: 17 Sep 2020 02:56 PM PDT

Hi, I have a Juwel 240 (63 Gallons) with 5 fancies in it - one black moor, 3 fantails and a lion head. Yesterday, i noticed the lionhead (named Ivory ) sitting at the bottom of the tank. I planned on observing Ivory's behaviour for a day and found him dead today after i came back from office. He was alive and swimming when i left this morning. Did a water check now - ammonia and nitrite -0, nitrate 10 ppm. But the pH had dropped to 5.8. It is usually 7.8. Dont know how this could have happened. Any ideas as to why this happened? Both the pH drop and the death ?

Should I be concerned? Is it white spot or something that's needs treating?

Can I put a single fancy goldfish in my 75 gallon community tank

Posted: 17 Sep 2020 08:45 AM PDT

I have a 75 gallon tank with 2 cannister filters. Java fern, anubias, and vallisnaria plants. Neon tetras, danios, dwarf guaramis, and a rainbow shark ( he's stays hidden and when he comes out he doesn't bother the others). Temperature stays around 78 degrees. Question is could I put a single fancy goldfish in this tank. I'm trying to rescue it from my neighbors who keeps it in a 29 gallon and rarely changes the water. The fish currently just stays in a corner motionless until feeding. I've researched and found out that fancy goldfish can tolerate higher temperatures. What's your thoughts on what I should do
