| Does anyone know this goldfish youtuber??? Posted: 13 Sep 2020 08:45 PM PDT I used to watch a girl on youtube a lot when I first got interested in goldfish, she made all sorts of videos from tank tours to fish care basics and I even remember a spoof "how to set up a goldfish bowl" video she made. When i watched her, she had long half black half blonde hair and wore eyeliner, I believe her name was something like Jenny? If anyone knows the name of her channel could they comment it? I really wanna find it note that I'm getting into goldfish again! EDIT: its solid gold aquatics! Unfortunately she isn't active anymore :( if anyone has any other good aquatics channel recs that focus on goldfish/bettas I'd love to hear! [link] [comments] | ||

| I'm not sure I'm such a fan of King Koi anymore Posted: 13 Sep 2020 03:23 PM PDT I have purchased a total of 8 fancy goldfish from King Koi over the last year. My water params have been great, fully cycled tanks, all that. But one swelled up like a balloon within a couple months and died within 24 hours of showing symptoms. Another died out of the blue with no signs of illness. I have two now as of this morning that have major swim bladder issues, and another mildly affected. It seems like everything has gone wrong with these guys. I just cannot win with their fish. My tank with 2 PetSmart fancies? I haven't had them 2 months yet, but they're more active, growing fast, and seem in general to be way healthier than the beauties who cost me a small fortune. :( [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 13 Sep 2020 03:20 PM PDT Can anyone recommend a good filter for a 75 gallon tank with one 6-7 inch goldfish in it? I have only used the type that hang on the back and don't know much about canister ones and if they are difficult to clean etc. thank you! [link] [comments] | ||

| Getting a 125 gallon in a few months, need some help to be fully prepared. Posted: 13 Sep 2020 02:41 PM PDT So my current plan is to have a planted tank with driftwood and some floaters. I know the floaters are highly unlikely to thrive on their own, but I will have another tank setup where they will be growing from, so I got that covered. Main problem has to due with the plants. Should i try to get them going before moving the goldfish in? Or is there a certain kind of soil or something that'll hold up with them already in there? I want to setup plants such as moneywort, vallisneria, and amazon swords (though I'm going to attach these to the driftwood). I haven't had success with pool filter sand and root tabs in the past. I currently have 7 goldfish in a 55 and they're growing growing, hence why I'm going for a drastic upgrade. I will be using precycled media in the filter, so when I put the goldfish in isn't an issue. Also, the 125G long will have glass tops so if you guys have any plant light suggestions, that would be of great help! Especially some that are strong enough to get through potential tannins from the driftwood. Made this in a rush before work, so apologies in advance if my thoughts are all jumbled up 😅 [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 13 Sep 2020 02:40 PM PDT I have 2 new goldfish and I dont know what to name them. I have 2 black moors that I named Wednesday and Lydia (because they're goth queens) and I just recently got 2 Thai Oranda's. 1 is black (more gray really compared to the moors) and the other is orange with black spots, one specifically on its snoot which I would love a name that might correspond with the mustache. Any ideas? P.s. I suck at taking tank pics (pics in general) or else I would've uploaded. Thanks all! [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 13 Sep 2020 10:08 AM PDT I just had to share this rollercoaster of a day I've had with people that will understand. I've had Donald and Hillary for nearly 4 years now. They used to be tiny but now grown to about 3 inches, just normal lovely orange goldfish. They have their own funny personalities, Hillary just calmly swims around and takes the pellet food when she feels like it, whereas Donald will freak out if he even sees me reach out for the fish food. If Hillary happens to be hungry, and gets to a pellet first, he will literally barge her out of the way to get to food. I can't tell you how much I love these fish, if I dance around, they swim around trying to keep up with me. If I look 👀 at the tank and open and close my mouth they face me and do the same. Sounds crazy but every word if this is true. So imagine my horror when husband screams this morning and shouts me to come and look at the fish! I knew something awful had happened and expected one of them to be floating upside down. But no, Donald was laying on the kitchen counter, completely motionless, flat, dry and for all the world looks like his life had come to an untimely end. Of course I screamed and asked my husband, why did he not deal with that and why make me have to see poor Donald ... dead. The image will stay with me forever. I cried and husband comforted me whilst poor Donald was lying on the kitchen counter completely lifeless. He suggested I pick Donald up with kitchen roll and put him in the dustbin. I said no way is Donald going to be put out with the rubbish. I'm going to bury him in the garden. So, through the tears I managed to tell Hillary that Donald was ok, he was just going to live outside now. I went out and whilst going to get my trowel to dig a little hole for him to RIP, I glanced the water in thebird bath and thought that would be an appropriate place to leave him whilst I dug the hole. Yes, you've guessed it, as soon as I plopped him in the bird bath he moved!!! I couldn't believe it! He's alive I screamed and we popped him in a butty box of fresh water, gently stroked the debris from the bird bath off him and let him rest for a few hours with regular checks on him. What can I say, after only about 2 hours he was swimming to follow my finger, so I popped him back in the tank with Hillary. She wasn't fussed at first but when I went back a bit later, she was right alongside him, nudging him to move. So fast forward 6 anxious hours and blimey Donald is pretty much back to his normal self! He's lost his appetite but I feel sure that will be back to normal in the morning. I reckon he must have jumped out if the tank at least 8 hours before we noticed. So a happy ending and a lesson never to give up. [link] [comments] | ||
