Need some advice for a potentially sick fish :(

Hello,

First time poster, pretty new to goldfish care but I read the illness wiki and still need some advice. We have 7 goldfish, all are around 3 years old, one of them is quite large and we're not sure what to do.

Initially we thought she (?) was full of eggs, but she's been this way for about two months and shows no signs of changing size or releasing eggs. Then we thought it was dropsy so we quarantined her and started a dropsy treatment, but we've seen no change yet, and since she's been this way for a couple months already and aren't seeing any pine-coning we aren't convinced it's dropsy. At the same time we're treating for constipation, mostly with peas, lettuce, and salt, but again, no change, and she did poop out a small pea-colored poop, but it's hard to tell how much she's pooping. It doesn't seem to be a swim bladder issue since she has no issue swimming, staying upright, or staying at the bottom of the tank. Then we thought maybe it's a tumor, but she's so uniformly round, we're not sure. Now we're reading about impacted eggs... ???

She has a healthy appetite and isn't lethargic at all, in fact she seems more unhappy being in the hospital tank. Can anyone shed some light on what this might be? I mean, maybe she's just a big girl, but like I said and as you can see, she's MUCH larger than the other fish we have, so it seems abnormal. Help!

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the bad pictures... our hospital tank has clouded sides.

My fish

Posted: 18 Sep 2020 11:07 PM PDT

Black Spots started appearing on my comet goldfish—is it melanin change, or ammonia poisoning, or something related to stress? It seems like there are a lot of reasons for black to appear, but I don’t know which is the cause. Please help!

What's the best way to add a second fish?

Posted: 18 Sep 2020 03:54 PM PDT

My local pet store has dollar per gallon sales rather frequently and I asked my mom if I could get a large tank for christmas. She said that would be a good idea for a gift, so chances are, I'll be getting an upgrade soon. On top of getting a larger tank, I'm also planning on getting her some company-just one though-since school and a bearded dragon means I don't have as much time for her as I used to. I understand you need to cycle the new tank first before you transfer the fish, but how long after the transfer should I add the new fish? Will adding the fish too close to the move stress her out or will she be fine? Should I put them in both at the same time or should I only add another after Houoh has acclimated? Thanks in advance.

I accidentally got my three new boys way bigger than the first two and I’m panicking?? Do you think they’ll eat each other?

Is it normal for Ranchu to get white spots on the head? I've read that this is Wen Growth as long as the whole body isn't spotted white which means Ich. Notice the white spot on my Gold one's head in the middle there? Just curious! My calico says hello lol, she has also had spots on her head before.

Repashy

Posted: 18 Sep 2020 06:50 PM PDT

I'm new to feeding repashy. How much do you guys give at a time? I'm feeding two 1.5 yr old orandas that are about 6.5 inches each. I feed them twice every day, but only plan on repashy being for one of each feeding. I'm just not sure how to portion it out/how much I should give them each time.

Please help URGENT

Hi all I have some fancy goldfish and just went to look at them. My small fantail and black moor keep chasing around my telescope fish. Mainly the fantail though. Do I need to separate them or is this likely breeding? Another question, I have loads of plants in my pond for them. Should I take alot of them out??? Do they prefer bare tanks

Any ideas why my Oranda died?

Posted: 18 Sep 2020 02:30 PM PDT

60 gallon. Ammonia 0ppm, nitrites 0ppm nitrates 10ppm Ph 7.6

Purchased a small Oranda and small ryukin from our LPS.

Had for two days. Newly cycled and planted tank so these were the first fish to go in. Everything seemed fine for the two days we had them. The morning of the second day the Oranda looked and acted fine. Around 5pm i went in and was admiring them and noticed a few small (pin size, very tiny) red dots on the body near the dorsal fin and on one side of the head (three small pin size red dots). It was barely noticeable but I had been watching them like a hawk and knew it wasn't there hours before. There were no other visible changes or anything else physically that looked concerning. The Oranda also started hanging out in the corner at this point and was breathing heavier. In the process of trying to figure out what was going on and what I should do, she passed away (within a matter of three hours of seeing the spots). The hour before she passed she sifted around a bit for food... was slow but moving around a little bit. Right before she passed she darted across the tank and then settled on the sand in the middle of the tank and that was it. We took her out and like earlier, the only visible differences we saw were a few tiny red spots (and I'm talking tiny red dots that I really had to point out to my husband because he kept saying he didn't see them).

The ryukin has been acting completely normal today. No visible signs of anything being wrong. Water Params are still normal. Plan on doing a small water change this evening.

I'm just curious what went wrong... did we do something wrong? We do have hard water and weren't sure if maybe that could cause an issue but my understanding was that usually happens right away and not a couple days later.... I even acclimated them with the drop method because I was worried about the hard water. Our tropical tank uses the same water source with no issues.

I feel terrible but badly want to know what could have happened and if I missed something or what I could or should have done so in the future I'm better prepared.

Moving house

Posted: 18 Sep 2020 10:41 AM PDT

Moved house today (only about a 30 min drive) and brought my 2 goldfish with me. I didn't feed them yesterday as I had read not to feed them the day before moving. I usually feed them once daily, 5/6 days a week. When they're hungry they usually come up towards the surface when they see me. When I go near their tank now they hide. I know they're still settling in but I'm wondering should I feed them today or wait until tomorrow?
