Need to remove Hydra from an Axolotl tank

Posted: 29 Sep 2020 09:47 AM PDT

So I found some hydra in Cloud's tank. It isn't a big deal for him but I have other tanks that will not do well with hydra in them. Cross contamination will happen eventually so unfortunately I'll need to do something to get rid of them in the tank. But I know meds/chemicals tend to be very bad for Axolotls so I want to be really careful with what I do.

Not sure how the Hydra got into the tank but that doesn't matter too much here. I had hydra about 3 months ago in my other fish and shrimp aquariums (bad quarantine practices with plants) and treated with No-Planaria to get rid of them. Those tanks are still clear thankfully, just checked. I've still got that bag with plenty left to treat this tank but I know I can't do that with Cloud in his tank. It's also got the side effects of killing off the rest of the microlife in the tank and not getting out of the water easily.

Is it possible to tub Cloud during the treatment and then do an insane amount of water changes to get this stuff out? The treatment only takes a few days so this could be possible. I can live with needing to reseed the microlife.

Does anyone have other suggestions of what to do?

What can I do?

Posted: 28 Sep 2020 09:37 PM PDT

I adopted an extremely malnourished axolotl from a classmate and I was wondering what I should do to get him more in shape. He's extremely skinny and is around 9 months old but looks nothing like a 9-month-old.

Is Acurel F Safe For My Axolotl, and Bacterial Bloom Advice?

Posted: 28 Sep 2020 09:03 PM PDT

So I've had an Axie named Mooshi for 3 months, For a long time my tank gets EXTREMELY cloudy. I have bacterial blooms constantly and I've tried a lot of ways of fixing it. Letting new water dechloronate for 24 hours before putting it in the tank, partial water changes often, feeding less(i thought it could be overfeeding), etc. None of it ever helped. I have no job right now and I live with my parents, so I've been selling stuff to get money for his tank upkeep. Recently I bought a UV light that "kills bacterial bloom"(im using it currently while he isn't in the tank) and Acurel F(Drops that get rid of bacterial bloom). I thought it would be safe, but now I worry that it won't be. Someone on another website I just saw said Acurel F can be harmful to Axie's. I put him in another container of dechlorinated water while I worked on his tank, and now that it's time to put him back in, I'm scared something could happen because of the drops. It's safe to say that I tend to make rash decisions, and I feel horrible for his tank being in constant chaos, even though I try really hard to take care of it everyday. Does anyone know if Acurel F is safe for Axie's? And does anyone have tips for bacterial bloom. It would help so much. Thanks!

HELP!!! What does green poo mean?

Posted: 29 Sep 2020 12:33 AM PDT

I made a post yesterday about my sick axolotl and decided to fridge him. I went to do the water change, and he had pooped, but it was dark green. What does this mean?

I just did a water change because the water keeps becoming extremely cloudy. Now all my parameters are where the should be except my pH is at about 8.2. Should I tub my lotl?

Posted: 28 Sep 2020 07:45 PM PDT

Pls help. He seems perfectly fine. Just ate, currently taking a poo. No curled tail or gills. I just wanna make sure he'll be alright cause he's still a baby. I just double dosed the water with prime as I saw someone that suggested that helping. Also put a splash of stability because I changed about 70% of the water since it was so cloudy. Just figured I'd make a post to be sure.

Also any suggestions on how to keep the water from clouding up would be greatly appreciated. I just took a couple of small Java ferns out because I felt they were contributing to it. Now I just have 6 small moss balls and bit of anubias nana. Not sure if removing them contributed to the change in pH or not.
