Worms Australia

Posted: 22 Sep 2020 06:28 AM PDT

Hey! So I recently bought two axolotls that are still quite young, but old enough to eat big foods, but I was wondering if anyone knew where to get live worms in QLD Australia, or had any worm type reccomendations? I am currently feeding them brine shrimp and blood worms little frozen tablets from Petbarn but I'd really love to start feeding them live foods, I just don't know where to start. Thankyou!!!!

Tips and suggestions(First time owner)

Hey everyone! I'm a new owner(just got mine Saturday) and i could use some tips. First off even with a fan the coldest I can get my water without using ice packs is 69-70 degrees, and I wanted to know if that was safe enough for them.

I'm also really worried about the cycle, my API water test kit was supposed to be here Monday but got delayed by amazon and should hopefully be here tomorrow. The place I got them from recommended a daily water change for the first week, which I have been doing but I don't know if that's the best option for them. I've noticed the water getting cloudy though so I am unsure of whether to continue these changes or not. The day I got them and put them in the tank, I put API quick start for the cycle, but haven't added anymore since that first day.

I'm concerned about stressing them out, even though they've been eating just fine. Their gills look forward to me and I'm unsure of if that's how they naturally are for them of if its stress so I've included pictures to show you guys. They aren't all that active even though they're young, they will move around the bottom of the tank and sometimes go on top of their cave but other than that they mostly stay still.

Thank you to everyone who replies and I'm looking forward to being part of this community.

I hope i'm doing everything right, honestly the breeder I bought from wasn't super helpful.

I feed him blackworms everyday, sometimes twice a day if he seems hungry/his stomach looks empty.

he is very calm most of the time, he seems most active around like 11pm at night ive caught him swimming around the tank but mostly he just walks around the bottom.

Ive got sand in the tank along with plenty of hiding spots, I have a test kit where im testing for ammonia and nitrite, although i haven't detected any. The tank/filter was being used before so I guess its already got the like bacteria that it needs for the nitrogen cycle?

I've had him for about 2 weeks, no idea how old he is.

Is there anything wrong with my axolotl?

So I bought my axie on July 16th from a reputable breeder. I'm not sure how old he is, I just messaged them to ask and am waiting for a response. If I had to guess I would say 2 months old. He was really small, like maybe 2 inches long. For the first week, I fed him fish pellets until he stopped eating them (usually 2-3 a day). I remember reading on a care sheet/forum that they self regulate and will stop eating when they're full, so I never worried about feeding him too much. I finally got bloodworm cubes and fed him one a day, and for a bit he would leave a few worms in the bowl (which is clean up). But about 3 weeks ago I noticed he wasn't leaving any and was constantly patrolling the tank, so I upped it to 2 cubes a day. As before, he eats all of the worms by the next day. As soon as my bloodwork package is almost out I'm going to switch him to nightcrawlers. Right now he's 6.5-7 inches, and kinda pudgy but I wouldn't say fat (but I'm also green to axolotl keeping if you can't tell lol). It's certainly active, and even digs around/plays in the sand. My question is: is 2 cubes a day too much? Am I making him fat? Is that much growth in that time frame normal? Also is it old enough to tell what sex it is?

Hey this is my first time posting I just wanted to know if my boy toothless looks healthy?

What should I be doing to ensure my axolotl's dental health?

His "teeth" look a little brown in places. Should I be concerned?
