Meet my apple snail Sweet Potato :)

Same clutch of mysteries, as adults some are the size of peas and some the size of golf balls. They are separated so the little guys get plenty of food and the water parameters are the same. What gives?

Everyone is healthy, well fed, and acting normal, I'm just super curious if this is a common phenomenon. I'm sort of partial to the little guys actually because they don't spend all day trying to mate 🙄. I had to separate out the big females from the males because they're getting stressed from being chased around. Little guys just hang around in the floating plants being cute.

I fixed this blue mystery snail’s shell after it fell and shattered at the pet store. While it’s grown huge, it’s shell is no longer blue. Is there something I’m missing? His tank mates all have big normal shells but he is just dull grey instead of blue.

How many ramshorn snails before considering getting an assassin snail?

Posted: 17 Sep 2020 05:38 PM PDT

Basically title, me and my girlfriend like the snails that we have, they're a cute addition to the tank, but I'm wondering how many ramshorn can we have to balance out how quickly assassin snails and how quickly ramshorn reproduce. We currently have around 9(?) Ramshorn in the tank right now in our 10 gallon, with more to come soon.

Aquatic Plat Aquarium. Snails Everywhere. Help

Posted: 17 Sep 2020 11:40 AM PDT

Hi, so I have an aquatic Plant tank and I noticed 1 snail in August and it's been j chillen in my tank and I thought nothing of it. Today I was taking care of my tank and there are dozens upon dozens of baby snails. Like everywhere on everything. Plus there are these tiny white speck like things swimming freely I'm afraid may be more snails. It's only a 10 gallon tank with just some plants I enjoy keeping.

I don't want to kill them either on purpose or on accident. Are snails endangered? What do I do?

Is my nerite sick? What should I do?

Posted: 17 Sep 2020 06:15 AM PDT

I bought a new batik nerite about a week or two ago, acclimated to my tank and tada! Snail was ok, took about an hour for the surprise to wear off and away he went. Spotted him cleaning the glass and rocks and doing average snail things.

After a couple days however, I noticed he seemed to have fallen in the back corner of the tank and landed upside down, so I reached in and flipped him. Snail was in the same spot that evening, figured maybe he was sleeping and kept monitoring.

Snail was still in the same spot after 48 hours so I did a smell and door test. No smell, door tight. Ok, long nap. Moved the snail to the front of the tank so I could keep an eye on him and over the next 48 hours he did not move from that spot. I noticed he did seem to be opening his door a fraction of an inch but wasn't coming out. Didn't think that was normal, so I moved him to my quarantine tank.

He's been in quarantine for about 4 days now and still won't come out. Door opens slightly but he's not eating (sliver of wafer, zucchini, algae) and he hasn't moved. If I reach in with my feeding straw and brush him lightly, he'll retract into his shell but that's the only movement I've really seen in about a week. He kinda just sits there with his door half open and his foot barely hanging out.

Is this a sign of illness? Is there anything I can do?
