Aquatic Koi I was lucky enough to find this Koi from someone gifting it online. This guy originally got her in a group of comet gold fish. After some growing time he noticed she was different. He recognized she needed more space, and that’s how I became so fortunate.

Silver Blotches on Koi — Illness?

Posted: 28 Sep 2020 04:41 PM PDT

Hello all,

I apologise ahead of time that I do not have pictures — my camera sucks and it certainly wouldn't be able to show a good resolution what I am referring to as the fish is at the bottom of the pond. I recently bought another koi that has larger silvery splotches on it. It looked somewhat like the silver scales I have on my bekko, what with their glinting when the light hits them a certain way. The koi has been hanging out at the bottom of the pond since yesterday, though, and not interacting much with the others or eating much that I've seen.

I do not know if it is just still scared, or if it is actually sick with something. The silver splotches are the only outward thing strange about it, and I've considered ich, but the spots seem too big to be that and it doesn't really look like the pimples in pictures I've seen (though there are strangely very few pictures of koi with ich to compare to). Does any of this sound like some sort of common illness, or should I not even be worried quite yet since it is still a new fish?
